Spacetherm FP

Spacetherm FP

Product catalog summary
Overview
Spacetherm® FP is a high-performance laminate designed for direct application to existing solid walls. It combines Spacetherm® aerogel insulation with a Fermacell/plywood composite, offering excellent thermal performance with minimal thickness, making it ideal for refurbishment projects where space is limited.

Key Features
  • Thin insulation system suitable for challenging walls.
  • Exceptional thermal performance with minimal space loss.
  • Long-term thermal performance exceeding 50 years.
  • Integrated vapour control layer and unique fire resistance.
  • Supports up to 50kg per fixing.
  • Non-hazardous material.

Installation
Spacetherm® FP can be fixed directly to walls using shot-fired nails or traditional battens, with fixings no more than 500mm apart. Drilling is discouraged but may be necessary for wiring, requiring careful compression of the panel to avoid insulation fiber entanglement.

Internal & External Angles
Panels should be cut to ensure continuous insulation at internal and external angles. Refer to the Installation Guide for detailed instructions.

Partition Walls
For partitions meeting external walls with Spacetherm® FP, the insulation should ideally continue onto the partition or stop at the junction.

Physical Properties
  • Panel size: 2400 x 1200mm
  • Fermacell thickness: 10mm
  • Plywood thickness: 6mm
  • Aerogel thickness: 5, 10, 15mm
  • Vapour control layer: 58.5 MNs/g
  • Fire resistance: Fermacell Class 0, Aerogel Class C-s1, d0

U-value Performance
U-values range from 0.85 W/m²K to 0.20 W/m²K depending on the thickness of the aerogel layer.

Reveals
Spacetherm® WRB is designed for window and door reveals, using similar installation methods as internal and external angles.

Floor & Ceiling Details
Skirting boards should be removed before installation, with panels cut close to the ceiling and gaps filled with PU foam or plaster filler.

Taping & Filling Joints
Panels should be cleaned, taped, and filled before decoration, with a skim coat applied if necessary.

Cutting
Use a jigsaw or circular saw for cutting, ensuring fibrous layers are not damaged. Cut-outs for sockets should be made before fixing the boards.

Health & Safety
Handling and cutting Spacetherm® FP may produce dust that dries the skin. Use gloves, dust masks, and ensure proper ventilation and personal protective equipment.

Spacetherm FP-1

THERMAL SOLUTIONS OVERVIEW Spacetherm® FP (fermacell / plywood) is a high performance laminate which incorporates the unique fire resistance and hanging strength of Fermacell. Specifically designed to be directly fixed to existing solid walls, Spacetherm® FP consists of Spacetherm® aerogel insulation blanket bonded to a Fermacell / Plywood composite, for use in applications where low U-values are required with limited space. Spacetherm® FP lining boards can achieve similar performance to traditional plasterboard laminates, but at a fraction of the thickness, allowing specifiers greater flexibility and higher performance for refurbishment projects. Thin insulation system for hard to treat walls. The best thermal performance available. Minimum loss of room space. Constant long term thermal performance 50 years+. Includes an integrated vapour control layer. Unique fire resistance properties. Hanging strength of up to 50Kgs per fixing. Non-hazardous material. INSTALLATION Spacetherm® FP can be directly fixed to existing walls either by using shot fired nails or by fixing to battens in the traditional manner. Fixings should be at no more than 500mm centres. Although drilling is not recommended it may be required for wiring and services. When drilling, care should be taken to compress the panel as much as possible to reduce insulation fibres wrapping around the drill bit. INTERNAL & EXTERNAL ANGLES Spacetherm® panels should be cut in such a way to allow for the jointing of the plasterboard and an unbroken run of insulation to the existing wall in both internal & external angles. Refer to Installation Guide for further details. PARTITION WALLS Where an internal partition abutts an external wall with Spacetherm® FP lining, ideally Spacetherm® FP should be returned onto the partition or alternatively stopped at the junction. THERMAL SOLUTIONS Physical Properties Spacetherm WRB (window reveal board) is a high performance laminate specifically designed to be fixed or glued to the existing solid wall. Spacetherm® WRB consists of Spacetherm® aerogel insulation blanket bonded to plasterboard or fermacell with or without plywood reinforcement. For use in applications where low U-values are required with limited space. Any reveals such as those which may occur at windows, doors etc, should be treated in the same manner as the internal and external angles mentioned above. Refer to Installation Guide for further details....
