Frameshield 100

Product catalog summary
Frameshield 100 Overview
Frameshield 100 is a spunbonded polypropylene material designed as a breather membrane for timber frame wall construction. It provides protection against wind-driven rain, snow, and dust during construction and allows controlled vapour escape while preventing moisture ingress once construction is complete. It conforms to BS 4016:1997 and meets NHBC requirements.

Specifications
Frameshield 100 is manufactured by Don and Low Nonwovens Ltd and is produced through the continuous extrusion of polypropylene fibres. It is installed using austenitic stainless steel nails or staples, with specific lap dimensions for vertical and horizontal applications.

  • Flexibility at low temperature: No cracking at minus 60°C (EN 1109)
  • Air Permeability: 320 m3/m2/hr (at 50 Pa) (EN 12114)

Application Procedure
Frameshield 100 must be installed according to the manufacturer's instructions, ensuring integrity by overlapping and staggering joints. It is supplied in roll form with specific dimensions and is available in various colors.

Accessories
Includes Roofshield/Frameshield Tape, commonly known as duct tape, which is used for various applications including temporary repairs and wrapping. Vapour Control Layers (VCLs) are also available, made from reinforced polythene and polythene/foil.

CONDENSATION CONTROL FRAMESHIELD 100 GENERAL PHYSICAL PROPERTIES Frameshield 100 is a spunbonded polypropylene material developed primarily as a breather membrane for use in timber frame wall construction. Property Applied in the factory during manufacture or on site, Frameshield 100 affords effective protection of timber frames during construction against wind-driven rain, snow and dust. Once completed, the high water vapour permeability of Frameshield 100 allows the controlled escape of vapour from within the timber frame whilst restricting the ingress of rain and moisture. Frameshield 100 conforms to BS 4016:1997 (Specification for Building Papers, Breather Type) and its vapour resistance factor of 0.1 MNs/g is less than the maximum permitted in NHBC requirements. Used in accordance with this NHBC Practice Note, Frameshield 100 provides a superior quality permanent wall breather membrane. Exclusively developed and produced for The A.
