Product catalog summary
Definition: BIOTANK is a solvent-free epoxy paint with low viscosity and strong gel lap, designed for thick, abrasion-resistant coatings. It is suitable for contact with drinkable water and pulverulent food products.
Intended Uses: The paint is used for maintenance and repair of water towers, protection of structures for drinkable water storage and distribution, and inside coating of silos, tanks, and cisterns for pulverulent food transport.
Principal Characteristics: The coating complies with European regulations and is unaffected by actinic radiation. Users must verify compatibility with transported products.
Certifications/Approvals: It holds a Sanitary Compliance Certificate for drinkable water (French regulation: 09 MAT LY 158).
Technical Data: The paint has a matte finish, off-white color, and consists of two components with specific mix ratios. It has a specific gravity of 1.50 g/cm³ and a solids volume of 97%. Typical dry and wet thickness ranges from 200 to 400 µm, with a theoretical spreading rate of 5 - 2.5 m²/l.
Instructions:
  • Surface Preparation: New steel requires abrasive blast cleaning to Sa 2½. Concrete must be clean, dry, and free from pollution.
  • Application: Mix components at a minimum of 20°C. The working pot life varies with temperature. Substrate temperature should be between 10°C and 30°C, with specific weather conditions required.
  • Application Methods: Airless spray is recommended with specific nozzle and pressure settings. Air spray is not recommended, and brush or roller application is for small surfaces only.
Curing Time: Varies with temperature, with touch dry, hard dry, and ready-for-use times specified for 10°C, 20°C, and 30°C.
Compatibility: The paint is compatible with itself for both previous and subsequent coats.
Regulatory Specifications: It has an AFNOR rating of Family I Class 6b and contains a maximum of 5 g/l VOC, well below the EU limit.
Health and Safety: The flash point for both base and hardener is greater than 61°C. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet for transport and labelling information. The shelf life is a minimum of 2 years in original packaging.
Packaging: Available in kits with specific volumes for base and hardener components.
