Paustian Arctander Chair Design Philip Arctander PHILIP ARCTANDER Philip Arctander (1916-1994) was a graduate of the Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in Copenhagen, working as an independent architect from 1939-47. He was Head of Research from 1947 and, from 1968-1981, Director of the Danish Building Research Institute (SBI). He also served as an advisor to the UN in the field of construction and housing.
