The 8-in. (203-mm) diameter Biotube® Filter has almost 5 ft2 (0.5 m2) of filter area, to resist clogging while providing maximum long-term protection. Effluent from the relatively clear zone of the septic tank, between the scum and sludge layers, exits the tank via the tank’s outlet assembly and enters the Biotube Effluent Filter through inlet holes in the filter housing. Effluent then enters the annular space between the housing and the Biotubes, utilizing the entire surface for filtering.
