s83 bench

Product catalog summary
Specifications:
The s83 bench is constructed using cut granite ends, a 316 grade stainless steel frame, and treated Iroko timber. The dimensions are 2000mm in length, 540mm in width, and 460mm in height. Options for the granite finish include polished, bush hammered, or flamed, while the timber can be left unfinished or treated with a micro-porous stain.
Installation Procedure:
1. Determine the bench location and excavate two holes at 1830mm centers with minimum dimensions of L600 x W600 x D400mm.
2. Fill holes with 35N20 concrete, leaving 15mm below the paver level.
3. Allow concrete to set, then apply a dry sand/cement mix and compact.
4. Replace paving slabs and ensure they are well-bedded.
5. Position the bench and mark around each end support.
6. Remove the bench and mark holes at 380mm centers.
7. Drill four 25mm diameter holes.
8. Apply epoxy cement to dowel rods and insert, leaving 80mm above ground.
9. Apply epoxy cement to bench end holes.
10. Align and lower the bench into position.
Maintenance Guidelines:
Stainless Steel: Clean with warm water and mild detergent using a non-abrasive cloth. For heavier stains, use a nylon scouring pad. Avoid altering the surface texture.
Timber: Factory-applied Sikkens woodstain preserves color. Re-coating may be necessary over time. Untreated timber will turn silvery grey but remains structurally sound.
Granite: Clean with warm water and mild detergent using a stiff brush. Avoid power washers unless necessary, and test in an inconspicuous area first.
Stone Finishes:
Polished: Reflective surface, appears darker.
Flamed: Lightly textured, achieved by passing a flame across the surface.
Bush Hammered: Coarser texture, achieved by hammering the surface.

s83 Care and Maintenance Guidelines The s83 bench is constructed from granite, 316 grade stainless steel and iroko hardwood. The materials have been selected for their excellent outdoor durability as well as their aesthetic properties. The timber components have had a micro porous woodstain factory applied as a means of preserving the rich colour of the timber and maximising longevity. Some care is required to maintain the product’s original appearance. The extent to which maintenance is required will depend on a number of factors including environmental conditions, construction activity and...

Wood Finishes Below shows Iroko timber with factory applied micro-porous stain. This finish offers very good resistance to UV rays and provided the coating surface does not become broken the colour will not fade for several years. The coating is however vulnerable to conditions where high moisture and severe cold persist. Such conditions can cause the coating to blister and lift. Where maintenance is required the surface can be re-coated using a brush on version of the coating. Omos provide maintenance instructions for all products. Below shows Iroko timber untreated and freshly sanded. The inset...

Each of the pieces shown above are Granite ref. G603, also referred to as Light Grey. The finishes are as follows: 1 Polished A polished finish gives the stone reflective properties. When viewed straight on, with no reflections, it appears slightly darker than the other finishes. 2 Flamed A flamed finish has a lightly textured surface. As the name suggests it is achieved by passing a flame across the surface causing the surface to flake leaving a random textured finish. 3 Bush Hammered Like the flamed finish a bush hammered finish is also textured though it is courser. The finish is achieved...
