eXP Extended Exposure Sheathing

Product catalog summary
Overview: The Gold Bond® BRAND e2XP® Extended Exposure Sheathing is a moisture and mold-resistant gypsum panel designed for exterior walls and soffits. It acts as a water-resistant underlayment for various exterior cladding materials, providing a robust base during prolonged exposure to the elements.
Description: The e2XP Sheathing features a moisture and mold-resistant core with a coated fiberglass mat facer, offering superior weather resistance. It is available in 1/2" and 5/8" thicknesses, is lightweight, and easy to handle.
Basic Uses: Suitable for wood and metal stud construction, e2XP Sheathing provides fire resistance, weather protection, and structural strength. It can be used with various air and water resistive barriers and as a component in curtainwall or Exterior Insulated Finish Systems (EIFS).
Features/Benefits: The sheathing meets ASTM C 1177 standards, withstands up to 12 months of weather exposure, resists mold growth, and is noncombustible. It is easy to install without special tools and is suitable for soffit and radius applications.
Limitations: e2XP Sheathing is not a finished surface and should not be used as a nailing base or for tile applications. It should not be immersed in water or used below grade. Proper installation and maintenance are required to avoid warranty voidance.
Physical Properties: The sheathing is available in standard lengths of 8', 9', and 10', with a bending radius of 6' to 8'. It has high racking and flexural strength and is dimensionally stable under temperature and humidity changes.
Installation Recommendations: Installation must follow specific guidelines, including proper fastener placement and joint treatment. The sheathing can be attached parallel or perpendicular to framing, with fasteners driven flush with the panel surface.
Safety: Installers should wear protective clothing and equipment to avoid irritation from fiberglass dust. A dust mask is recommended during sanding.
Technical Data: The 5/8" e2XP Fire-Shield Sheathing is classified as Type X for fire resistance and complies with various ASTM standards and UL listings.
Limited Warranty Overview: National Gypsum Company (NGC) provides a limited warranty for its e2XP® Sheathing, ensuring it is free from defects in material and workmanship at the time of shipping and will not deteriorate under normal weather conditions. The Defects Warranty lasts for 5 years, extendable to 10 years for specific installations, while the Exposure Warranty is valid for 12 months post-installation.
Warranty Conditions: The warranty is applicable only if installation follows building codes and NGC's specifications, the product is properly handled, and the building is maintained with care. It excludes damage from structural movement, extreme weather, or improper use.
Exclusions and Limitations: The warranty does not cover issues arising from other manufacturers' products, organic growth, improper installation, or lack of building maintenance. It is the sole warranty provided, excluding all other implied warranties, and limits NGC's liability to product replacement or reimbursement.
Claims Process: Claims must be submitted in writing within 30 days of discovering a problem, including a description, photographs, and proof of purchase. NGC may replace the product or reimburse repair costs up to twice the purchase price.
