Product catalog summary
Overview: This document serves as a detailed guide for the installation and application of NUDURA RetroFit Insulation Technology, highlighting its ease of installation, superior performance, and energy efficiency.
Specifications: NUDURA panels are available in 4’ x 8’ sheets with thickness options of 2 ⅝” and 3½”. Constructed from Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), these panels are lightweight and easy to cut. They include an embedded 2 ½” fastening strip at 16” centers and utilize a shiplap system to prevent thermal bridging.
Installation Procedures:
  • Wall Preparation: Ensure the foundation wall is free of excess concrete debris for flat panel placement. An air barrier may be necessary based on local codes.
  • Panel Installation: Begin at the foundation wall corner, adjusting shoulder edges for spacing. Secure panels with mechanical fasteners like concrete screws, spaced vertically every 2 feet.
  • Window Installation: Trim panels to fit around windows, leaving a gap for NUDURA’s Low Expansion Spray Foam to create a thermal barrier.
  • Electrical Installation: Use a hot knife or router to cut wiring channels, avoiding cuts through the wood fastening strip. Secure electrical boxes appropriately.
  • Drywall Installation: Attach ½” drywall to the wood fastening strip using 1¼” drywall screws, with strips placed 16” on center.
Performance and Benefits: NUDURA RetroFit Insulation Technology offers insulation ratings up to R-14, improving energy efficiency and comfort. It is environmentally friendly, free from VOCs, CFCs, or HCFCs, and resistant to moisture.
Recommendations: Always check local building codes for compliance. For corner bead installation, consult local supply chains or manufacturer guidelines.
Limitations: NUDURA disclaims liability for installation or workmanship issues, and the information is provided for informational purposes only.
