Product catalog summary
Overview: The document provides technical specifications and features of the Sunny Central MV series, which includes models 400MV, 500MV, and 630MV. These are turnkey solutions for medium-voltage grid integration, designed to enhance efficiency and grid management in solar power installations.
Specifications:
  • Input Data: Nominal DC power ranges from 408 kW to 642 kW, with a maximum DC voltage of 1000 V and a maximum DC current up to 1422 A.
  • Output Data: Nominal AC power ranges from 400 kVA to 630 kVA, with a nominal AC voltage of 20000 V and a grid frequency of 50/60 Hz.
  • Efficiency: Maximum efficiency ranges from 97.5% to 97.8%, with Euro-eta efficiency slightly lower.
  • Dimensions and Weight: All models have a height of 3600 mm, width of 5300 mm, depth of 2500 mm, and weight of 30000 kg.
  • Protection and Conditions: IP54 protection rating, operating temperature range from -20°C to +45°C, and relative humidity from 15% to 95%.
Features:
  • Equipped with SMA central inverter and medium-voltage transformer for direct grid feed-in.
  • Eliminates the need for a low-voltage transformer, increasing plant efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Includes grid management functions such as limited dynamic grid support, remote-controlled power reduction, frequency-dependent control of active power, and static voltage support based on reactive power.
Optional Components:
  • Medium-voltage switchgear systems for flexible solar park structures.
  • AC transfer station with measurement capabilities.
  • Medium-voltage transformers for grid voltages other than 20 kV.
Grid Management Functions:
  • Inverters continue feeding the grid after short-term voltage drops within a defined voltage window.
  • Remote-controlled power reduction to prevent grid overload, with typical limit values of 100%, 60%, 30%, or 0% of nominal power.
  • Frequency-dependent active power control to stabilize grid frequency.
  • Static voltage support through reactive power feeding, with fixed or dynamic setpoints defined by the grid operator.
Certifications: The systems comply with EMC standards EN 61000-6-2 and EN 61000-6-4, CE conformity, and other regional directives.

SUNNY CENTRAL 400MV / 500MV / 630MV-1

Turnkey Delivery • Without low-voltage transformer: greater plant efficiency due to direct connection to the mediumvoltage grid • Complete with medium-voltage transformer and concrete substation for outdoor installation • Medium-voltage switchgear systems for a flexible structure of large solar parks • AC transfer station with measurement • Medium-voltage transformers for other grid voltages (deviating from 20 kV) Sunny Central for direct medium-voltage feed-in 400MV / 500MV / 630MV The compact station for safe grid management The station has got it: Equipped with an SMA central inverter of the new HE family and a medium-voltage transformer, the Sunny Central MV feeds directly into the medium-voltage grid. The advantage: By removing the need for the low-voltage transformer, the plant operator realizes greater yields and at the same time lower inverter costs. The Sunny Central MV is delivered as a “turnkey” concrete substation for outside installation. On top of that, the Sunny Central MV actively participates in grid management, and thereby fulfils all requirements of the Medium-Voltage Directive valid as of July 2010.

SUNNY CENTRAL 400MV / 500MV / 630MV-4

Remote controlled power reduction in case of grid overload In order to avoid short-term grid overload, the grid operator presets a nominal active power value which the inverter will implement within 60 seconds. The nominal value is transmitted to the inverters via a ripple control receiver in combination with the SMA Power Reducer Box. Typical limit values are 100, 60, 30 or 0 per cent of the nominal power. Frequency-dependent control of active power As of a grid frequency of 50.2 Hz, the inverter automatically reduces the fed-in of active power according to a definable characteristic curve which...
