When making a vase, the glassmaker must hold 25 kg of material on the blowpipe, which the cutter then works down to a final weight of 15 kg. Only a true master of the craft can manage this feat. However, the hard work and focus are worth it – the result is a gigantic gem with precisely cut edges and surfaces, refracting light into a fascinating array of colours.

A robust base lends stability to the Pear, while an asymmetric tilt provides dynamism. A droplet-shaped core with a narrow neck softens the outwardly stern design.
