Open the catalog to page 23 Education St Catherine’s School In this example the Architects have obviously decided to make an architectural feature of the electric lighting trunking and uplighters that will be used during night-time and other hours when electric lighting will be required. It can be seen however that the Sunpipes provide all the necessary natural lighting for the School to operate during daylit hours providing an even distribution of natural light which would not be possible with windows.
Open the catalog to page 34 Education Chew Valley School Not only do Sunpipes eliminate the need for electric lighting during daytime use, but they also provide soft, soothing lighting that has a calming effect on children and relieves the stress and strain on Teachers that is so often related to the flickering lights of electric lighting.
Open the catalog to page 45 Corridors - look no windows! Trinity School, Bath Ikea, Peterborough Sunpipes are ideal for long corridors where an even spread of lighting is desirable. So often, electric lights are left on all day long wasting energy whereas the Sunpipes operate from dawn to dusk being totally energy-free. Tiverton School
Open the catalog to page 56 Healthcare Frenchay Hospital Hospital Projects have always strongly featured the use of Sunpipes not only to reduce the energy consumption, and accordingly help to reduce the hospital’s carbon footprint, but also because of the quality of natural daylight produced. It is probably a much overlooked fact that in Victorian days, hospitals had Sanatoriums which were extensively glazed with large windows, since it was an accepted fact maximising daylight was an important factor for speeding a patient’s recovery. Sunpipes cannot claim to have direct healing properties but it is little wonder...
Open the catalog to page 67 The National Autistic Society Whether it is for cloakrooms or common areas, special schools are always one of the first to recognise the many advantages of providing this form of natural daylighting for staff, visitors, and the children themselves. No ceiling or windows required
Open the catalog to page 78 Retail Supermarkets Sainsbury’s Eco-store, Dartmouth The latest 750mm diameter Diamond dome Sunpipe model prompted Sainsbury’s Commercial Director Neil Sachdev to say that Monodraught Sunpipes provide ‘amazing natural light’. Sainsbury’s new flagship green store in Dartmouth was the first UK supermarket in 2008 to fit Monodraught 750mm Sunpipes in its main shop floor area, bringing all the benefits of natural daylight to thousands of customers shopping there every week. Producing approximately 1000 lux at floor level the 750mm Diamond dome is ideal for buildings of more than 7m in height....

Open the catalog to page 910 Frosts Cars, Hove Architects on this particular car showroom decided to use Sunpipes in a very stunning way to produce various circles of natural light at ceiling level. Natural light always brings out the best colour in the cars and as can be seen, can be used with a very striking effect. Sunpipes also drastically reduce the heat gain to the space compared to electric lighting and in turn reduce the requirement for airconditioning. Lighting by Nature
Open the catalog to page 1011 The Secure Warehouse Kingsland Industrial units particularly benefit from Sunpipes application, since Sunpipes not only present a highly secure environment as compared to rooflights and windows but as can be seen from these photographs, but can provide high levels of lighting with considerable intensity, which are ideal for both storage and factory units. With zero running costs, zero maintenance, and maximum daylight to an enclosed area, it is little wonder Sunpipes have proved to be so successful.
Open the catalog to page 1112 This Award winning project from Make Architects utilised 1500mm diameter Sunpipes to create these stunning bespoke Suncatchers at roof level, not only bringing in sunlight but also providing all the ventilation requirements connected to heat recovery. The 3m square systems served a duel purpose of light and ventilation but cannot be seen from ground level since thy are behind the parapet wall. Nevertheless, the performance of the Suncatchers was unaffected by the surrounding buildings. Jubilee Campus, Nottingham University Architectural Lighting
Open the catalog to page 1213 Dartford Judo Kwai Also a project from Make Architects who are very keen on this bespoke ceiling treatment. As can be seen, the ceiling formers were in GRP which enables this very stunning design effect to be achieved whilst also having all the benefits of natural lighting. Because of security issues, external windows could not be used and yet the Centre benefits from an abundance of natural light. Architectural Lighting
Open the catalog to page 1314 Bringing the outside in! The Falcon Centre - Dubai Falcon breeding is very important in the Middle East and an abundance of natural light plays an important part in this breeding programme. We have four full-time installation teams working in Dubai, such is the popularity of our systems in the UAE.
Open the catalog to page 1415 Roofs & Diffusers There is virtually no limit to the type of roofs that can be used with Sunpipes and there is a wide variety of ceiling trims available. Specialist light fittings can also be devised to Architects’ requirements.
Open the catalog to page 1516 The Windcatcher Tranent North Primary School, East Lothian Windcatchers have always proved extremely popular in Scotland and as can be seen, can provide a very eye-catching design as an overall part of the architectural requirements.
