The lamps operate on a simple, traditional principle with modern updates. They use a non-combustible fiberglass wick, unlike traditional candle wicks. The lamps are filled using an enclosed bottle, dull needle, and funnel. The dull needle fits into a fill hole next to the wick. If the wick slips out, it can be re-threaded easily.
Safety and Recommendations:
For optimal performance, use only pure, high-quality, unscented, petroleum-based lamp oil. The wick should be even with the glass cylinder, and the pan should always be well-filled to maintain an even flame. Oil lamps should not be exposed to drafts or left unattended, especially around children, as ingestion of lamp oil can cause serious health issues.
