MAI N TENA NCE Polished brass must be routinely maintained to retain the desired appearance. The darkening or black spotting on the surface is simply oxidation taking place. If left untreated brass will eventually turn entirely, but unevenly, dark. Likewise - stainless steel do resists stains but - occasionally dulls or will show oily fingerprints. Should be treated with metal polish, such as ‘Brasso’, to remove tarnish. Frequency of the treatment depends on use and abuse, location and oxygen exposure.
