t aW o c 0 e 0 p 6 a I M Two-component transparent epoxy primer in water dispersion WHERE TO USE Mapecoat I 600 W is specifically formulated for priming surfaces before applying Mapefloor I 500 W when used to form self-levelling, vapour-permeable epoxy coatings (Mapefloor System 53) and Mapefloor Urban System. • Do not mix partial quantities of the components to avoid mixing errors; the product may not harden correctly. Typical application examples • Primer for Mapefloor Urban System. • Protect the product from water for at least 24 hours after application. • Primer for Mapefloor I 500 W (Mapefloor System 53). • The temperature of the substrate must be at least 3°C above dew-point. TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS Mapefloor I 600 W is a two-component, transparent, epoxy resin-based primer according to a formula developed in the MAPEI R&D laboratories. Once Mapecoat I 600 W has been prepared as specified and diluted according to requirements, it may be applied by roller or by airless spray in coats from 60 to 100 µm thick. Mapecoat I 600 W may be applied directly on concrete without a vapour barrier. RECOMMENDATIONS • Do not dilute Mapecoat I 600 W with solvents. • Do not apply Mapecoat I 600 W on crumbling substrates. • Do not apply Mapecoat I 600 W on substrates with oil or grease stains or stains in general. • Only apply Mapecoat I 600 W on substrates prepared as specified. • Do not expose the mixed product to sources of heat. • Do not apply Mapecoat I 600 W if the temperature is lower than +8°C or higher than +35°C. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Substrate preparation It is very important to prepare surfaces as specified to guarantee correct application and to obtain the best performance from resin systems. The best way to prepare substrates is mechanically, such as shotblasting or grinding with a diamond disk. Milling or scarifying are only required if several millimetres of material need to be removed from the surface. After mechanically preparing the surface, remove all waste and dust by thoroughly vacuuming the surface. Once the substrate has been prepared, the surface must be sound, compact, clean, dry, slightly rough, absorbent and free of any material that could affect adhesion of the coating, such as: –– cement laitance; –– dust
