The document presents the "Reflection" collection by Manerba, emphasizing the interplay of light, color, and material craftsmanship in design. It highlights the conceptual inspiration, material selection, manufacturing processes, and aesthetic outcomes that define the collection.
"Reflection" symbolizes both the physical phenomenon of light bouncing and the intellectual reflection on color, which has been central to Manerba's recent research. The collection explores how light and color enhance the perception and quality of finishes.
The collection uses premium raw materials: lacquered and satin glass, aluminum coated with tactile paints, and handcrafted steel resembling wrought iron. Steel manufacturing involves artisan brushing and polishing to achieve perfectly clean surfaces while respecting the curvature of each piece. The steel components undergo specific electrolytic baths to produce durable finishes such as nickel, burnished, vintage bronze, copper, and 24k matte satin gold, ensuring long-lasting quality.
The circular shape is emphasized as the ideal form to express color, featuring extra-clear tempered glass that naturally reflects chromatic effects through glossy and satin lacquers. The glass edges are finely ground and polished, with color tones ranging from light blue to intense blue, ruby red, and green, combining tactile softness with visual brilliance.
Light and color uniquely enhance surfaces and design, creating harmonious color assemblies that offer new visual experiences and evoke sophistication in environments. The study of chromatic solutions is fundamental in shaping both objects and spaces, with form and color delivering a unified physical and visual impact.
Surfaces are complemented by fabrics made from natural cotton and linen fibers, featuring high-tenacity weaves for durability and colorfastness. These textiles contribute to the overall personality, character, and uniqueness of the collection.
The product design was led by Giovanni Giacobone and Massimo Roj, with color and finish design and creative direction by Raffaella Mangiarotti. Photography, graphic design, and styling were provided by Miro Zagnoli, La Tigre, and Elisa Musso respectively. The catalogue was printed by Studio Fasoli in March 2015.
