RESTON®DISC

Product catalog summary
Concept and Principle
RESTON®DISC bearings by mageba are characterized by a Polyether-Urethane (PU) rotational element placed between two plates. This element allows tilting movements and absorbs horizontal forces through a shear pin. The bearings can accommodate various forces and movements depending on their type: fixed, guided sliding, or free sliding.

Advantages
The PU disc can handle compressive stress up to 35 MPa and does not deform plastically until pressures exceed 20 times the allowable force, providing a high safety factor. The design load is low compared to the material's ultimate strength, resulting in minimal long-term creep.

Types
RESTON®DISC bearings are available in several types: Fixed, Guided Sliding, Free Sliding, and Uplift Restraining. They are connected to structures using anchor dowels, threaded sleeves, or anchor plates with shear studs.

Materials
The bearings use high-quality materials: carbon steel for bearing plates, stainless steel, Polyether-Urethane for the rotational disc, and PTFE for sliding material. The PU material remains flexible across a wide temperature range and has excellent weathering properties.

Design
The PU disc's high compressive strength eliminates the need for confinement. The design allows for rotation and transmits horizontal loads via a central steel pin. Anchor plates facilitate future bearing replacement.

Quality and Support
mageba has supplied over 50,000 bearings globally, ensuring quality through ISO 9001:2008 certification and regular independent checks. Corrosion protection is tailored to exposure conditions, and testing includes proof load tests and friction coefficient assessments.

Offers and Support
mageba provides quotations based on bearing types and numbers required. They offer support in determining the necessary bearings and provide additional information and data sheets on their website.

Structural bearings   Concept Principle mageba RESTON®DISC bearings are uniquely defined by their Polyether-Urethane (PU) rotational element which is placed between two plates, the upper bearing plate and the lower bearing plate. The rotational element’s elasticity enables tilting movements of the upper bearing plate around any horizontal axis. The rotational capacity is facilitated by a “V” shaped groove along the exterior contour of the disc. A shear pin placed in the centre of the rotational element absorbs the horizontal forces and keeps the upper and lower bearing plates in position. The...

Structural bearings   Properties Materials The following high-quality materials are used in the manufacture of RESTON®DISC bearings: Due to its high compressive strength, the rotational element requires no confinement. Dimensioning of the PU disc is based on the behaviour of a linear elastic material, unrestrained laterally at its top and bottom surfaces. The unconfined disc accommodates rotation by the differential deflection of the PU element. The horizontal structural loads are transmitted by a steel pin located at the centre of the disc. It is designed to be fully functional at up to twice...
