Open the catalog to page 5THE IMPORTANCE OF RAW MATERIALS The real and authentic handmade terracotta must be made with deep clays, characterized by a specific geological composition, so that the product can reach the highest quality. The best clays are located in Tuscany, especially in the Sienese territory. In fact, compact, elastic and porous artifacts are born from the Sienese clays, so as to better incorporate the protective waxes inside and be resistant to frost outside.
Open the catalog to page 7THE MIXTURE WITH JUST WATER As soon as it is extracted from the quarry, the clay is mixed with the sole addition of water, because it is rich in organic substances. After that, the mixture is poured into wooden moulds, to then be beaten manually, piece by piece, thus giving life to totally natural and breathable products. 9
Open the catalog to page 9NATURAL DRYING The artifacts are left to rest and dry naturally on the ground for several days. Natural drying makes it possible to exclude the molecular micro-cracks typical of industrial terracotta and guarantees maximum resistance and compactness. 11
Open the catalog to page 11AND EVERYTHING TAKES COLOUR Like magic, the Artisan Firings ensure that the artifacts acquire their most beautiful chromatic tones, dictated by the different geological components of the clays. During firing, the flames invade the artifacts, giving the typical chromatic nuances and making each piece unique and inimitable. Furthermore, the slow progression of the flame is the secret of a frost-proof terracotta, resistant over the centuries and with a metallic sound.
