Open the catalog to page 34 Thrive in Good Light The way we shape design and light can be traced back to Poul Henningsen and his views on the dualities of light and design: the contrasts of darkness and illumination, of form and function, of modern and classic. In our continued work with light innovation, we strive to achieve the ideal balance among these elements – and to create the best possible ambience to help people and spaces thrive. This year, we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the ground-breaking and worldrenowned PH 5 pendant: the design that, based on Poul Henningsen’s earlier principles, laid the...
Open the catalog to page 410 it is now 60 years ago that one of the world’s most well-known and popular lamps first saw the light of day. in 1958, the designer Poul Henningsen completed work on the PH 5 pendant, which in many ways marked the pinnacle of his long career. Since then, PH 5 has been an icon of Danish design, and a much-loved lamp that for generations has illuminated countless dining tables around the world. PouI Henningsen, otherwise known as PH, had a mission: He wanted to create an electric lamp with pleasant, glare-free light. Taking this as his starting point, he developed a lighting philosophy and...
Open the catalog to page 10A PH 5 hanging above a dining table must firstly illuminate the table well so that you can see the food or read the newspaper. The second type of illumination is weaker, and is directed more diffusely out towards the perimeter of the table, so that the people sitting at the table are illuminated by a soft and pleasant glow without any hard facial shadows. The third type of illumination gently lights up the space beyond the table, so that you can see the floor. Finally, the fourth type of illumination helps to illuminate the room with a little uplight. PH 5 provides all four types...

Objects in which nothing has been left to chance, and everything has meaning. Objects that remind us of something familiar while surprising us with something new. The new Spring collection features five such objects: designs with such a strong core expression that they allow for endless reinvention and personal expression. Louis Poulsen was in charge of the lighting plan, and designed a new fixture for the project
Open the catalog to page 2831 At first glance, the Tirpitz Museum does not take your breath away. But the building’s ingenious concept becomes apparent as soon as you move down the four entrances which cut through the harsh dune landscape like corridors. From here, you step into the museum’s central space, which is surrounded by four gigantic, underground exhibition rooms. The museum is situated next to the old cannon bunker Tirpitz, which the Germans constructed in 1944 during their occupation of Denmark. The museum is built into a man-made sandbank leading up to the bunker. By bringing together three museums in a...

Open the catalog to page 46As PouI Henningsen said, “Once you have experienced real lighting, life is filled with new values”. Today’s lamps make it easier than ever before to achieve real lighting - and make life more beautiful at any moment and no matter how much or little natural light is streaming in. The key to getting the optimal ambience and aesthetics is choosing the right light source for the job.
