Gripspan
Gripspan planking is manufactured locally and available in multiple sizes and profiles, such as plain, serrated, slotted, and slotted dimpled. Made from materials like untreated mild steel, Galvabond, hot-dipped galvanized steel, and lightweight aluminum, these planks comply with ASNZ 1657 standards. They are suitable for roof access walkways, platforms, and both interior and exterior applications, offering benefits like non-slip surfaces, lightweight, custom lengths, and large spanning capabilities.
Specifications
Gripspan planks are available in 6000mm stock lengths (5800mm in NZ) or custom lengths, with widths of 225mm or 300mm and leg heights of 65mm or 100mm. Material thickness options include 1.2mm or 2.0mm. Planks are coded for easy identification based on material and profile.
Load Tables
Load tables provide detailed information on safe uniformly distributed load (U), safe line load (C), and deflection (D) for different plank sizes and materials, ensuring compliance with specific loading and spanning requirements.
Installation Guide
Gripspan planking is cost-effective and easy to install, with options for welding or clamping. Recommendations include specific bolt spacing and welding techniques to ensure safety and compliance with standards.
Application Advice
Suggested applications for Gripspan products include condenser platforms, elevated water tower platforms, roof access walkways, mezzanine flooring, rail bridge access walkways, and mining platforms, with maximum span recommendations provided.
Fixing Clips & Accessories
A variety of fixing clips and accessories are available, including anchor device clips, heel toe plates, splice planks, hold down clamps, filler panels, and joining brackets.
Overview
The document details specifications and descriptions of components and accessories for Gripspan systems, including planks, carrier plates, and various bolts and screws.
Specifications
Planks are available in widths of 225mm or 300mm and lengths of 6075mm (5800mm in NZ), made from 2.0mm or 3.0mm steel thickness, with finishes like Galvabond, untreated mild steel, or hot-dipped galvanized. Carrier plates are used for joining planks and stair tread fabrication, while toe boards are fixed with M10 x 20mm bolts at 540mm intervals.
Accessories
Includes hold down clamp assemblies, anchor device clips, splice plates, filler panels, slotted fixing clips, and walkway support channels.
Fasteners
Includes joining bolts, J bolts, cup head bolts, and self-drilling screws.
Recommendations
Ensure correct bolt sizes are specified to match plank heights, with non-standard sizes available upon request. Consider using floor plate nosing or abrasive nosing for treads.
Specifications
Details on plank sizes and types, including dimensions and load capacities, with specific weight per linear meter and standard plank weight, along with safe uniformly distributed load (U), deflection (D), and safe line load (C) values for different spans.
Procedures
Installation advice includes fixing support frames through the roof rib into a structural roof member, with a maximum spacing of 1500mm between support frames. M12 bolts should be fastened to 60N.m with spring washers supplied.
Standards and Testing
All testing was conducted in accordance with AS/NZS 4600:2005 for cold-formed steel structures and AS 1391-2007 for metallic material tensile testing, performed at a NATA accredited laboratory.
Recommendations
For detailed drawings and further installation details, users are directed to visit the website. The document also recommends using Shur-Grip Hold down clamp assembly for fastening without drilling into the structure.
Product Features
Safe T PerfTM offers slip-resistant flooring with 360º slip resistance, available in various profiles and materials. Roof TreadTM systems provide a complete roof access system with options for handrails, designed to meet ASNZ 1657 standards.
Key Data from Tables
Tables provide detailed load capacities and deflection values for different plank types and spans. For example, SG4020/300 has a safe uniformly distributed load of 16.67 kPa for a 900mm span, with a deflection of 4.50mm.
