The surfaces to be bonded and grouted must be clean and any foreign substance must be eliminated which could affect bonding, such as loose parts, preservatives, grease, oil, dust, water, traces of old adhesives or grouts. Cleaning non-porous surfaces: clean with OTTO Cleaner T (drying time about 1 minute) and a dry fiber-free cloth. Cleaning porous surfaces: clean the surfaces mechanically, e..g with a steel brush or a smoothing disc to remove loose particles. The smoothing agent must not leave traces and dry on the grouting joint and nearby surface because the dried residue could affect the appearance (matte/pale stains). If a smoothing product is used immediately after sealing, any water streaks that have formed must be removed. If only cleaned later, permanent streaks may remain. Generally speaking, we recommend using the smoothing product sparingly, so, for example, only dampen tools for smoothing very slightly or apply the smoothing product in targeted areas with a clean brush on the surface to be grouted. Any residual smoothing agent must be removed with clean water before it has time to dry. On very delicate natural stones (e.g.Nero Impala or Nero Assoluto), it is possible that the use of the silicone smoothing agent for marble OTTO X-GLM smoothing agent or other types of smoothing agents may cause stains and discolorations that cannot be eliminated with the cleaning products on the market. For smoothing matte shades with the OTTO X-GLM Marble Silicone Smoothing Agent, remember that the joint must be treated only once with a smoothing tool previously immersed in the smoothing agent, because the more often the surface is treated with the smoothing agent, the more the matte effect is lost and the joint is brighter. Before use, check the compatibility of the product with the adjacent surfaces, such as wood. given the large number of factors which influence the treatment and the application of the product, the user should always perform a test treatment and application.
