Introduction to Tradical® Hemcrete®
Tradical® Hemcrete® is a sustainable building material made from hemp and lime. It is used for constructing walls and offers environmental benefits such as carbon capture.
Hemp Processing
The process involves harvesting hemp, drying it, and separating it into hemp shiv and fibre. These components are then mixed to create Hemcrete®.
Construction Techniques
Hemcrete® can be used in various construction methods, including casting and spraying, to form walls with excellent thermal performance.
Thermal Performance
Hemcrete® walls provide superior thermal insulation, contributing to energy efficiency in buildings.
Environmental Impact
Hemcrete® walls have a lower embodied CO2 compared to traditional cavity walls, with 300mm Hemcrete® locking up approximately 31kg CO2/m² and 500mm locking up about 53kg CO2/m².
Applications
Hemcrete® is suitable for various building types, including social housing, education buildings, private housing, and commercial buildings.
Approvals and Insurance
Tradical® Hemcrete® has received LABC system approval and is recognized by all 376 Building Control Districts. It can also be insured through LABC insurance.
