~ With its 6 mm lacquered steel frame, the black Kubus is what most people think of as the quintessential by Lassen design object. When Søren Lassen began producing his grandfather’s, Mogens Lassen, candleholders in 1994, he chose this classic fine, matte surface texture to make the graphic, austere lines stand out. Since the candleholder was first made by local artisans in Denmark the collection has extended and every single item in the series now comes in black - because black is always in vogue. ~ The Kubus candleholders are all available in a gorgeous, modern, hand-polished nickel variant. Nickel has that exclusively solemn, yet understated feel to it and is cold, but with the warmest glow. Since introduced to the Kubus collection in 2016, the nickel version has gained success for its intense, shimmering surface. Nickel will maintain its exquisite surface through years of wear.

~ Brass had more than a golden age, it is here to stay. The perfectionism, precision and minimalist stringency Mogens Lassen sought to express in his designs is exemplified in the brass collection. The smooth, shiny finish speaks to our inner aesthete, across generations and times. The brass candleholders and bowls will maintain its shiny surface as the material is mixed with a splash of actual gold. This, as the other surfaces, is the epitome of good, intelligent Danish craftsmanship with an international outlook.

~ Burnished copper was the surface of one of the very first Kubus candleholders designed by Mogens Lassen in the 1960s. Uniting the past with the present, by Lassen introduced this original version, adding even more authenticity to the series. Its dark, uniquely vibrant and dynamic surface will increase in beauty and change slightly over time as it patinates. A special production process controls this rich patination and creates the raw dark-tinted burnishing of the copper.
