Bamboo

Product catalog summary
Introduction
Bamboo is a rapidly regrowing and versatile material, making it a trend for future furniture production. Its robustness, tight structure, and low weight make it ideal for furniture and accessories. The Modesto Collection by Lambert combines bamboo with walnut wood, creating unique color accents.

Origin
Bamboo grows up to 1 meter per day, primarily in Far Eastern Asia and southern China. It reaches full growth in 2 to 3 years, achieving heights of 20 meters and diameters of 10 to 15 cm. Cutting bamboo after 2 years allows it to regrow immediately, preventing erosion as the roots remain intact.

Transformation
Bamboo has a hard surface, making it suitable for furniture. Lambert uses a 5 mm bamboo veneer for table tops, with a core entirely of bamboo, mimicking solid wood characteristics.

Production
Bamboo is now a viable industrial material. The production process involves sawing the bamboo trunk into slats, removing the outer bark, drying, and planing. Slats may be steamed to caramelize sugars, giving a caramel tone. These slats can be pressed into plates for various uses, such as table tops.

Care Instructions for Oiled Bamboo Surfaces
Use a fine pad to polish the wood surface along the grain, remove dust, and apply pure nut oil with a cotton cloth. Allow the oil to absorb for a few minutes, then polish again for a final finish.

Bamboo-1

Bamboo Furniture (ModestoCollection) Bamboo is one of the sweet grasses. Thanks to the fact that it is quickly regrowing and highly versatile in use, it is the trend material of the future. Its exceptional robustness, its tight structure and the low weight make bamboo an ideal material for the production of furniture and accessories. These particular features of the innovative material inspired Lambert to design the new and autonomous Modesto line which conjoins bamboo and walnut wood in a very charming way thus setting unorthodox colour accents. Origin Bamboo plants grow up to 1 metre a day and are indigenous to Far Eastern Asia and to the tropical regions of southern China. After 2 to 3 years the bamboo trunks have fully grown. At this stage they are approx. 20 metres tall and the trunks have a diameter of 10 to 15 cm and a wall thickness of approx. 15 mm. Ecological advantage: If bamboo is cut after 2 years, the trunk regrows immediately. Since the roots do not die, there is no erosion. Transformation In contrast to many other woods, bamboo disposes of a very hard surface. For Lambert, the surfaces of the table tops are furnished with a 5 mm thick bamboo veneer. The core also consists entirely of bamboo thus presenting the characteristics of a solid wooden top.

Bamboo-2

Production During the past years, bamboo has become a fully adequate material in the field of industrial production as well. Upon production the bamboo trunk is sawn lengthwise to slats, before the outer green bark of the trunk is removed on a special carpenter's bench. After drying the slats are planed again. Possibly the slats can be cooked (steamed). The resulting effect is that the sugar contained will burn and thus the material will take on a caramel-coloured tone. Upon further production the slats can then be pressed to a plate, a semi-finished product that might find its final destination...
