Specifications
The 50-FR-4 model is a 4-way square diffuser designed for duct mounting, requiring a free opening 75 mm larger than the nominal size. Variants include the 50-FR-4 + 59 MM with a flap damper and the 50-FR-4 + 0 with an opposed blade damper.
General Information
The central core of the diffuser is removable for access to the volume control damper and duct connection. Various combinations of diffusers and accessories are available, as detailed on page 16.
Quick Selection Tables
The document includes quick selection tables for different diffuser types (50 FR-4, 50 FR-1, 50 FR-2, 50 FR-2D, and 50 FR-2-L), providing data on effective velocity (Vk), throw (X), total pressure (Pt), and noise level index (NR) for various sizes and flow rates.
Useful Recommendations

Overview: This document provides technical specifications and guidelines for selecting and installing square and rectangular air diffusers, specifically the Series 50 diffusers. It includes detailed tables for quick selection based on various parameters such as air flow rate, effective velocity, throw, total pressure, and noise level index. The document also outlines general information, recommendations, and examples for optimal diffuser performance.
Specifications: The document includes tables with data on effective velocity (Vk), throw (X), total pressure (Pt), and noise level index (NR) for different diffuser sizes and air flow rates. The tables are designed to help select the appropriate diffuser based on specific requirements such as air flow rate, noise level, and throw distance.
General Information: The diffusers are designed to meet modern architectural demands and can direct airflow in multiple directions. They are suitable for variable volume systems and are particularly effective in cold air installations due to their blade design, which utilizes the Coanda effect for efficient air distribution.
Installation Guidelines: The document provides guidelines for mounting diffusers, including the use of volume control dampers and various mounting systems. It also discusses the importance of aligning diffusers with the ceiling to achieve an adherent jet and provides correction factors for throw based on room dimensions and diffuser placement.
Recommendations: The document offers recommendations for maximum diffuser-to-ceiling distance and minimum velocity in the occupied zone to ensure optimal performance. It also provides formulas for calculating air flow rate and discusses the induction effect of diffusers.
Example: An example is provided to illustrate the selection process for a diffuser based on specific requirements such as air flow rate, throw, sound level, and pressure loss. The example demonstrates how to use the selection tables to find a suitable diffuser that meets the project criteria.
Accessories and Mounting Systems: The document describes various accessories and mounting systems available for the diffusers, including directional grilles and different types of volume control dampers. It also mentions the compatibility of these accessories with different mounting systems.
Conclusion: The document concludes with a description of the 52-FR-4 stamped square diffuser, highlighting its suitability for both cold and hot air supply and its installation requirements.
Overview: This document is a technical catalogue from KOOLAIR, S.A., detailing specifications and performance data for air distribution products, specifically focusing on plenum boxes and diffusers.
Product Configurations: The catalogue outlines various configurations for plenum boxes, including options without a plenum box, with unisolated or isolated plenum boxes, and with polystyrene plenum boxes for diffusers measuring 595 x 595 mm.
Specifications: The document provides detailed specifications for Series 50 products, including dimensions and types of plates such as 52-FR-4 Stamp-PS and 52-FR-4 Stamp-PL.
Performance Data: A selection table is included, presenting key performance metrics such as air flow (Q in m3/h), sound power level (LwA in dB(A)), pressure drop (∆Pt in Pa), horizontal throw (X in meters), and effective velocity (Vk in m/s) for various nominal air flow rates ranging from 150 to 600 m3/h.
Key Metrics: The table provides data for different air flow rates, showing how parameters like sound power level, pressure drop, and effective velocity change with varying air flow. For example, at a nominal air flow of 300 m3/h, the sound power level is 45 dB(A), pressure drop is 43 Pa, and effective velocity is 5.1 m/s.
Contact Information: The document concludes with contact details for KOOLAIR, S.A., including their address in Móstoles, Madrid, Spain, and contact numbers.

Series 50 General information - The special design of the range of square and rectangular diffusers provides to any kind of space the requirements of decoration which today’s architecture demands. - The broad range of products and possibilities to orientate the air flow in 1,2, 3 or 4 ways, make them particularly indicated for spaces where a particular zone has to be treated, in geometrically irregular spaces or off-centre parts of the space (conjunction of wall and ceiling, etc.). - By means of laboratory tests it has been demonstrated that these diffusers are ideal for variable volume systems, due...

3. Flow rate measurement The air flow rate (qv) is obtained from the product of the effective area of the diffuser (Ak) and its effective velocity (Vk), measured with a hot-wire anemometer (e.g. type TSI- VELOCICALC): qv(m3/h)=Ak (m2)·Vk (m/s)·3600 The value of Ak is obtained from the quick selection tables. E.g. for a diffuser type 50 FR-4 of size 12x12 the Ak is found to be 0,0435 m2. 4. Induction effect It is also possible to obtain the air flow rate induced in the room from the so-called induction factor (qx/qo) which is determined by the parameters Xc in m (corrected throw) and the effective...

Series 50 5. Volume control dampers 59 MM and ”O”. Technical data The volume control dampers modify the values of sound level and pressure loss given in the selection tables. Hereafter, and in the corresponding graphs sound levels and total pressure losses (APt) are presented for the diffuser including the volume control damper, as a function of the parameters Vk (effective velocity) and percentage of opening of the damper. 5.1 Damper 59 MM A correction factor should be applied to the sound level as a function of Ak of the diffuser according to the following table.

Other accessories and mounting systems Directional grille ”G” Damper Directional grille ”G” The directional grille G is a flow guide which permits orientation of the air flow, providing more flow in some directions than in others. Positioned at 0° it acts as a flow equaliser in cases where the duct flow is not uniform. Mounting is compatible with damper O and/or mounting system SM, but not with mounting bridges (PM or PMC) or blade damper (59 MM). Mounting system ”SM” The mounting system SM consists of clips fixed to the diffuser neck, which provides pressure between the frame of the diffuser...
