Product catalog summary
Acoustic Air Transfer Unit Overview
The KAT sound attenuation air transfer unit is designed to facilitate air movement between rooms while minimizing sound transmission. It features high sound absorption, low pressure loss, and an aesthetic design. The unit is suitable for installation in plasterboard walls and is available in two models: the Z-shaped for 100 mm walls and the T-shaped for 125 mm walls. Nominal lengths are 500 mm and 1000 mm, with options for different air diffusion components.
Specifications
The unit is constructed with a galvanized steel plenum box and aluminum diffusers and grilles, which can be anodized or painted. It includes a synthetic rubber seal and meets fire performance standard M1. Installation is typically above doors, with clip connections for easy mounting. A telescoping plenum box option allows for adjustment to various wall thicknesses.
Dimensions
Dimensions are provided for both KAT-Z and KAT-T models, with detailed sectional views. The units can be equipped with different grille types, such as perforated plates or linear slot grilles.
Technical Data
The sound attenuation is calculated using the Nordtest NT Acou 037 method. The document provides sound reduction data across various frequency bands for different models. The formula for total wall attenuation is included, considering wall area and attenuation values.
Product Codes
Product codes are detailed for various configurations, including model type, accessory options, component types, surface treatments, and lengths. An example code is provided for clarity.

Acoustic Air Transfer Unit - KAT Description The KAT sound attenuation air transfer unit offers a high sound absorption level, low pressure loss, easy installation and attractive design. Air is moved to adjacent rooms by the transfer unit by the pressure difference between the rooms. The low pressure loss of the device allows large air volumes to be moved between areas. The unique design allows the unit to be installed in plasterboard walls for air movement between adjacent areas, while also avoiding vision through the device and ensuring room-to-room sound reduction to guarantee conversation...

A = KAT-T 500 B = KAT-Z 500 C = KAT-T 1000 D = KAT-Z 1000 The listed values for the KAT correspond to transfer units with a front component and sound levels below 35 dB(A) for the flow rates listed in the chart. With front element The sound attenuation of the unit is calculated by the Nordtest NT Acou 037 method. The total wall attenuation in each frequency band is calculated using the following formula: Rp = total wall attenuation in the frequency band considered (dB) S = wall area, in m2 R = wall attenuation in the frequency band considered, without transfer unit (dB) D1 = attenuation of transfer...

Technical data Acoustic data To reduce sound transmission from one room to an adjacent room to an acceptable level, the sound attenuation component used to move air is lined with a sound-absorbing material. The resulting sound data on airborne noise (R) reduction are given by the sound reduction index and the difference in standard sound level. The airborne noise (R) reduction is defined as follows: The difference in standard sound level is given by the equation: D = L1— L, + 10-log( A0 n, e 12 A To calculate the weighted sound reduction index RW in the wall of a room, the dimensions and...
