Return grilles – Series 20.2

Product catalog summary
Overview: The document provides comprehensive specifications and guidelines for selecting and installing Series 20.2 return grilles, including egg crate and door grilles. It details materials, finishes, dimensions, and installation methods.
Specifications:
  • Materials: Type 20-45 grilles are made of aluminium with fixed blades at 45°, while Type 21-45 are made of steel sheet.
  • Finishes: Options include anodised aluminium in natural colour and steel painted in white RAL 9010, with special finishes available upon request.
  • Dimensions: Grilles come in various sizes, with guidelines for mounting with frames or screws.
  • Blade Length: Maximum blade length is 490 mm, with reinforcements for longer lengths.
Installation Guidelines:
  • Mounting Frame: The opening size matches the grille's nominal size when using a metal frame.
  • Screw Mounting: The opening size is reduced by 5 mm in both dimensions.
  • Volume Control Damper: Actuated from the front with a screwdriver.
  • Filterholder: Available upon request, but filters are not included.
Selection Tables:
  • Tables provide data on air flow rate, effective velocity, sound level, and pressure loss for different grille sizes and configurations.
  • Examples illustrate how to select grilles based on specific requirements such as air flow rate, sound level, and pressure loss.
Egg Crate Grilles:
  • Constructed from aluminium with a high useful area for elevated air flow rates and minimal pressure loss.
  • Adaptable to modular false ceiling systems.
General Information:
  • Grilles are identified by dimensions, with the first dimension as length and the second as height.
  • Special dimensions can be adapted for specific applications.
Procedures:
  • Installation involves either screw mounting or using a metallic frame, with specific instructions for each method.
  • Volume control dampers can be adjusted using a screwdriver and affect sound and pressure levels.
Standards and Testing:
  • Selection tables are based on full-scale laboratory tests according to ISO 5219, UNE 100.710, ISO 5135, and ISO 3741 standards.
Recommendations:
  • Recommended transfer velocity for door grilles is between 0.75 to 1.25 m/s.
  • For walls thicker than 55 mm, use two grilles type 20-45-H.
  • Special dimensions and finishes are available upon request.
Examples:
  • For a door grille with a required airflow of 140 m3/h and pressure loss below 8 Pa, a grille type 24-S1 or 24-S2 size 500 x 150 or 350 x 200 is suitable.
  • For exterior air intake with a flow rate of 400 m3/h, a grille type 25-H size 800 x 200, 600 x 250, or 500 x 300 meets the requirements.
Key Data from Tables:
  • Effective velocity and static pressure values are provided for various grille sizes and airflow rates.
  • Sound levels are indicated for different velocities, with corrections for specific conditions.
Air Distribution Devices:
  • Linear Grilles for Air Curtains: Return air flow with a range of 2.5-4.
  • Circular Diffusers with Fixed Cones: Supply air flow with a range of 2-3.
  • Circular Diffusers with Movable Cones: Supply air flow with a range of 2.5-4.5.
  • Extract Valves: Return air flow with a range of 1-1.5.
  • Ball Diffusers: Supply air flow with a range of 3-9.
  • Square and Rectangular Diffusers: Supply air flow with a range of 2-3.5.
  • Linear Diffusers: Supply air flow with a range of 2.5-4.5; Return air flow with a range of 1.5-2.5.
Sound Levels and NR Curves:
  • Recommended sound levels for various installations are specified using the NR (Noise Rating) system, which is gradually replacing the NC (Noise Criterion) system due to its inclusion of corrections for noise type, duration, and location.
  • Applications and NR Levels:
    • Recording/television studios: NR 15
    • Concert halls, operation rooms, libraries: NR 20
    • Conference rooms, churches, residences, hotels, private offices: NR 25-30
    • Banks, cafeterias, theatres, schools, restaurants, public buildings: NR 35-40
    • Supermarkets, shopping malls, gyms: NR 45-55
    • Shops, light industry: NR 65
