Active chilled beams – Series VFK 600

Product catalog summary
General Characteristics
The VFK 600 is a ceiling-mounted induction terminal unit, also known as an active chilled beam, designed for air-water systems to enhance comfort in environments with high thermal loads. It includes a primary air plenum, hot or chilled water coil, linear slot diffusers, and a hinged perforated front face for easy cleaning. The system uses water for cooling or heating, offering energy and space savings compared to all-air systems. Room temperature control is possible with 2- or 3-way valves.
Advantages
The VFK 600 offers high energy efficiency, low maintenance costs, low noise levels, and a space-saving design, making it suitable for office buildings, hospitals, and hotels.
Dimensions and Configurations
Available in sizes from 600 to 3000 mm, the VFK 600 features different configurations based on the primary air connection position. Constructed from galvanized steel with a powder-paint finish, the coil is made of copper pipes and aluminum fins. Eurovent certification ensures quality and performance.
Installation
Designed for easy installation in various ceiling types, including lay-in grid, continuous, and tegular ceilings. Hanging brackets and hinged latches facilitate mounting and maintenance.
Nozzle Control Mechanism
An optional nozzle regulation mechanism allows for flexible air discharge configurations, enhancing adaptability to different installation requirements.
Air Deflectors
Optional air deflector slats can adjust the air jet direction, providing flexibility to handle obstacles and ensure an environment free of air currents.
Volume Regulation and Control Components
Includes components for both constant and variable water flow rate systems, such as room controllers, temperature sensors, and valves. Mechanical self-regulators ensure proper air control and balancing.
Specifications
The VFK 600 system operates on a 2-pipe or 4-pipe cooling system, with parameters for primary air flow, sound power level, primary air pressure drop, and water flow rate.
Technical Data
Includes selection tables for different nozzle types and their performance metrics such as air flow rate, sound levels, pressure drops, and cooling capacities.
Performance Metrics
Key indicators include primary air capacity, coil capacity, total capacity, and the throw of the air jet. Correction factors for different water flow rates adjust unit capacity accordingly.
Recommendations
For systems with variable air flow based on occupancy, a minimum inlet pressure of approximately 40 Pa is recommended. Manual balancing is required when using dampers.
Conclusion
The VFK 600 chilled beam system offers flexibility in cooling applications with detailed specifications and performance data to guide selection and installation. Proper configuration and balancing are crucial for achieving desired cooling efficiency.
Customization and Features
The VFK 600 series can be customized with additional services such as lighting, public-address systems, smoke detectors, and sprinklers. Customization at the project's inception is important to meet specific installation needs.
Example Configuration
An example of a VFK 600-MS active chilled beam includes integrated elements like LEDs, a sprinkler, and a speaker.

Air deflectors As an optional accessory, the VFK 600 chilled beams can be fitted with air deflector slats (-DF) manufactured of M1 plastic, longitudinally built into the diffusers. By modifying the position, the air jet can be adjusted to different directions, making it a highly flexible unit to adapt to different situations in the installation. This makes it possible to handle obstacles, to broaden the width of the air jet and to slow the velocity of the jet over a specific throw, in short, to ensure an environment free of air currents. Several applications are shown below in the following figures:...
