When brushed, rolled or sprayed it can be topcoated after one hour with latex or oil-base paint. Not recommended for floors. RECOMMENDED FILM THICKNESS At 300 sq. ft. per gallon: • Wet: 6.4 mils; Dry: 2.5 mils At 400 sq. ft. per gallon: • Wet: 4.0 mils; Dry: 1.6 mils PREMIUM APPLICATION TOOLS Airless Spray: Tip: .015” - .021” Filter: 60 mesh PSI: Fluid pressure of 1,500 - 2,200 Roller: Smooth Surfaces: 3/8” - 1/2” nap Porous Surfaces: 1/2” - 3/4” nap Brush: Nylon / Polyester Blend WHERE TO USE Use KILZ KWIK-START primer on interior surfaces, including: • Drywall • Cured Plaster • Woodwork • Masonry • Brick SURFACE PREPARATION† • All surfaces must be clean, free of dust, chalk, oil, grease, wax polish, mold and mildew, loose peeling paint, rust and all other foreign substances. • If washing is necessary, use a non-soapy detergent or TSP substitute. Rinse well and allow to dry. • Fill all gaps with paintable sealant and allow to completely dry prior to coating. • Peeling or Checked Paint: Scrape off loose paint and sand to a smooth surface. Sanding or removal of paint containing lead is hazardous. • Glossy Surfaces: KILZ MAX™, KILZ® PREMIUM and KILZ 2® primers are recommended for use over properly prepared glossy surfaces. • Mold & Mildew Covered Surfaces: Wash the area with a milde remover, rinse with water and allow to dry before priming. Note: KILZ® PREMIUM and KILZ 2® primers are recommended for mildew prone surfaces. • Masonry, Brick, Stucco and Plaster: KILZ® KWIK START® primer may be used on clean, dry, aged interior masonry surfaces that have cured (dried) at least 90 days. If masonry has cured less than 90 days, use KILZ® PREMIUM, KILZ 2®, or KILZ ODORLESS® primers. • Stainblocking: KILZ® KWIK-START® primer is formulated to block minor stains before topcoating; for heavy stains use KILZ MAX, KILZ® PREMIUM, KILZ® ORIGINAL, KILZ COMPLETE® or KILZ ODORLESS® primers. • Tinting: May be tinted with up to 2 ounces of universal colorant per gallon. DRY TIME at 77°F (25°C), 50% RH: • To Touch: 30 Minutes • To Recoat: 1 Hour Longer dry time required in cooler temperatures and in higher humidity. APPLICATION • Eye protection is recommended. • For spray applications, a small amount of water (no more than ½ pint per gallon) may be added. • Only apply if surface, air and product temperatures are between 50º – 90ºF (10º – 32ºC). • Stir thoroughly before and occasionally during use. • Apply using a brush, roller or sprayer. • Prime the entire surface to ensure a uniform appearance of the topcoat.
