Product Overview: KILZ® Ceiling Paint is a low odor, zero VOC primer and topcoat with stainblocking technology, designed to block common ceiling stains. It dries quickly to a flat white finish and is formulated without VOC-containing solvents, although raw materials may contribute negligible VOC amounts.
Specifications: The paint is composed of an acrylic copolymer vehicle with weight solids of 59.9% and volume solids of 47.0%. It has a viscosity of 95-105 KU and a VOC content of 4 g/L. The coverage rate is 300-400 sq. ft. per gallon, depending on surface texture and application method.
Application Recommendations: Suitable for interior surfaces such as brick, drywall, masonry, painted metal, paneling, plaster, stucco, and wood. The surface must be clean and free of contaminants. For glossy surfaces, scuff sanding is recommended for better adhesion. The paint can be applied using a brush, roller, or sprayer, and should not be thinned for stainblocking applications.
Drying Time: At 77°F (25°C) and 50% RH, the paint dries to touch in 30 minutes and can be recoated in 2 hours, with 4 hours recommended for maximum stainblocking.
Safety and Handling: Eye protection is recommended during application. The product should be used with adequate ventilation and kept from freezing. It is harmful if swallowed and can cause irritation. In case of ingestion or difficulty in breathing, seek medical attention immediately.
Environmental and Safety Compliance: The product complies with several environmental standards, including SCAQMD, CARB, OTC, LADCO, AIM, and LEED®. It is not certified by MPI, GREENGUARD, GREEN SEAL™, CHPS, or NAHB/ICC NGBS.
Warranty: Masterchem Industries offers a limited warranty, providing either a replacement product or a refund upon proof of purchase if the product is found defective. The warranty excludes labor costs and incidental damages.
