KIELA is the brainchild of Jan Kiela. He established the company on 16 October 1939 in Rotterdam. He married Evelien Hess on 23 October 1941. She helped to further expand Jan’s business, which primarily focused on installation activities and metalworking. The first products consist of bonbons dishes, ashtrays and metal ovens. In 1950, furniture for hair salons was added to the product range after KIELA agreed a partnership with Indola.
