Product Description
Kebony Character battens are made from FSC® certified Scots Pine, modified with a bio-based liquid using patented Kebony technology. This process permanently alters the wood cell structure, resulting in a durable product that requires no maintenance beyond normal cleaning. The product contains knots and untreated heartwood, with the amount of heartwood varying between boards.

Quality and Appearance
The battens have a profile dimension of 48 x 48 mm and come in standard lengths. They contain only live knots, with no limitations on cupping and a maximum crook of 12 mm per 2 meters. Moisture content ranges from 8-14%, and surface cracks may be visible. Wane is limited to a maximum of 1/3 of thickness and width. The product is not graded for visible applications and may have sticker marks and visible polymer remnants.

Technical Data
Average density is 570 kg/m³ at 12% moisture content, with a Brinell hardness of 2-3. Maximum swelling from dry to wet in the tangential direction is 6%. Decay resistance is rated 1-2, suitable for use class 3.2 according to EN 335.

Certifications
The product is FSC certified (CU-COC-813689), Nordic Ecolabel certified (2086 0001), and complies with the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR). It is exempt from the EU's biocide directive and can be handled as ordinary wood waste.

Disclaimer
Up to 5% of boards may fall outside specifications and must be accepted. The product will change in appearance due to weathering, which does not affect durability.
