Though massive in size, Wing is remarkably light on its feet. Thanks for this go to the clever introduction of a sturdy under-table. Inspired by the rooines of Japanese temples, which are exemplied by the graceful way they sweep upwards at their ends, it’s not just the gentle curve of the seat and oval-shaped back that lend Papillon an Asian feel, it’s also the sophisticated juxtaposition of crimson-tinted wood against the at matte black metal chassis and legs. Originally designed for a 90 cm high table, these chairs stand mid-way between a bar stool and a normal chair but are also available in a standard height. 16

Low-slung and capacious, the slightly cocked back legs of this massive, solid chair give it the appearance of motion. Depending on color, it is two very different chairs. The natural-colored incar18 nation verges on the rustic, evoking the aesthetic of a hunting lodge reworked. Inspired by the Hansel & Gretel fairytale, this dining table straddles a ne line between the natural and the designed and draws attention to the quality and nature of its materials, as much as the way they are put together. Set on simple 20 iron legs, the tabletop is composed of old pieces of walnut, which are of varying thickness. No attempt is made to hide this fact, nor for that matter the defects in the wood (knots, breaks) that have simply been sanded smooth for safety.
