Relationship to Authorities: Installation must adhere to local codes and regulations, with a qualified inspector verifying the setup before use. Consultation with local building authorities is recommended for guidance.
Technical Data: The fireplaces are constructed from cast iron and steel, finished in black paint, and designed to use wood as fuel. They offer a nominal heat output of 6 kW and an efficiency of 80%. The maximum log length is 33 cm, and the flue pipe dimension is 150 mm.
Safety: Installation should be performed by a qualified installer. Unauthorized modifications or use of non-recommended accessories can void the warranty. The Clean Air Act restricts smoke emissions in certain areas, necessitating the use of authorized fuels and exempt appliances.
Installation: Proper foundation and floor protection are essential. Maintain specified distances from combustible materials: 350mm from the side, 125mm from the rear, and a minimum ceiling distance of 400mm.
Daily Use: Follow guidelines for safe operation, including maintaining safe distances from flammable materials and ensuring proper ventilation.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance. Ash should only be removed when the fireplace is cold and stored in a nonflammable container.
Service: Repairs and servicing should be conducted by authorized service providers to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Troubleshooting: The manual provides solutions for common operational problems.
Optional Equipment: Optional extras include glass floor plates and chimney coupling modules.
Recycling: Follow local regulations for recycling and disposal of fireplace components.
Warranty: Register the fireplace at jotul.com for a 25-year warranty. Always quote the serial number when contacting Jøtul or retailers.
Specifications and Requirements: The Jøtul F 230 stoves are recommended for use in smoke control areas in the UK when burning wood logs. They must be fitted with a mechanical stop to prevent the secondary air valve from closing below 798 mm².
Installation Instructions: Key steps include removing the top plate and transportation safety screws, mounting the AEA-blocking on the stove’s secondary air valve, and ensuring the fireplace is checked for damage before installation.
Fresh Air Supply: Ensure air used for combustion is replaced, especially in well-insulated houses, following national and local building regulations.
Chimney and Flue Pipe: Connect the fireplace to an approved chimney and flue pipe for solid fuel fireplaces, observing specified distances to flammable materials.
Performance Check: After assembly, ensure control handles move and work satisfactorily.
Daily Use and Maintenance: The first use may emit an irritating gas due to paint drying; ventilate the room thoroughly. Use quality wood with moisture content no more than 20%.
Safety Precautions: Never use petrol, paraffin, or similar liquids to light the fire to prevent injury and product damage.
Specifications: The Jøtul F230 stove has a nominal heat output of approximately 6 kW, with a wood consumption rate of about 1.9 kg/h.
Operating Procedures: The stove is equipped with various levers for ignition and combustion control. Adjust the combustion rate using the secondary combustion vent.
Safety and Overheating: Overheating can occur with excessive fuel or air, indicated by glowing red parts. Adjust air vent openings immediately if overheating is detected.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance includes ash removal, glass cleaning, and soot removal.
Service and Replacement: Unauthorized modifications are prohibited. Only original spare parts should be used.
Troubleshooting: Common issues include poor draught, fire extinguishing, and soot accumulation on glass.
Optional Equipment: Optional accessories include shaped floor plates and chimney lengths.
Recycling: Packaging materials such as wooden pallets, cardboard, and plastic should be recycled appropriately.
Waste Disposal Guidelines: Glass from the fireplace should be treated as hazardous waste and not placed in regular recycling containers.
