Product catalog summary
Product Description
STAR prefabricated waterproofing membranes are manufactured by co-extruding a bituminous dispersion with a copolymer matrix and a non-woven polyester fabric reinforcement. The lower face is coated with a textured polymer fiber film, while the top face can have a ceramicized talc surface or be coated with slate chippings for the STAR ARD version. These membranes are highly adhesive, ensuring strong anchorage and joins. They offer excellent cold flexibility and elasticity, are supplied in taped rolls with a Quality Control Certificate, and comply with CE marking requirements.
Recommended Uses
STAR membranes are suitable for various waterproofing applications, especially in cold climates. They are ideal for roofing, foundation, and below-grade applications. For specific applications, consult IMPER ITALIA srl Technical Services.
Methods of Application
Proper application is crucial for waterproofing performance. Substrates must be cleaned and primed with 0.2 to 0.3 liters/m2 of primer. STAR membranes are applied using a propane torch, with special attention to overlapping joins. Side laps should be 8 to 10 cm, and end laps 12 to 15 cm. For detailed guidance, consult IMPER ITALIA srl Technical Services.
Product Use
STAR membranes are compliant with various EN standards for roofing, underlay, and foundations. Different versions are available for specific applications, such as exposed roofs, roof gardens, and heavy-duty protection.
Specifications
The specifications include roll dimensions, thickness, mass, watertightness, cold flexibility, hot creep, tensile strength, elongation, dimensional stability, puncture resistance, tear resistance, joint peel and cut resistance, durability after aging, water vapor permeability, root resistance, and fire resistance. These properties are measured according to EN standards, with specific tolerances and conditions noted.

STAR-1

DATA SHEET Product description STAR prefabricated waterproofing membranes are produced by co-extruding a bituminous dispersion of compatibilizing agents in a copolymer matrix with a sized non-woven polyester fabric reinforcement mat with lengthwise mineral fibers embedded in the membrane. Lower face is coated with TEXTENE preformed textured polymer fiber film. Top face features a saturated ceramicized, talc surface treatment or coated with TEXTENE. For the STAR ARD version, the top face is surfaced with slate chippings. STAR membranes are highly adhesive to ensure better anchorage to the substrate and stronger joins between sheets. Membrane formulation provides excellent cold flexibility and elasticity. STAR membranes are supplied in taped rolls, each accompanied by a Quality Control Certificate. They comply with CE marking requirements where applicable, and contain no asbestos, tar or other dangerous substances. Recommended uses STAR membranes are designed for waterproofing applications of all kinds. In particular, they are ideal for use in cold climates or during cold weather. For membrane versions to be used in roofing, foundation and below-grade applications, see the table below(1). For detailed documentation and guidance regarding product application, consult IMPER ITALIA srl Technical Services. (1) In compliance with applicable standards and AISPEC-MBP guidelines. Methods of application Waterproofing performance will depend to a significant extent on application methods. Substrates must be thoroughly cleaned and treated with a suitable primer applied by brush, roller or spray at a rate of 0.2 to 0.3 liters/m2. Primer coverage will depend on substrate porosity. STAR membranes are applied using a propane torch. Special care must be taken at joins, which must be overlapped. Membrane must be laid to allow side laps of 8 to 10 cm and end laps of 12 to 15 cm. For detailed documentation and guidance in selecting the most appropriate procedures for any job, consult IMPER ITALIA srl Technical Services, who will be happy to provide assistance and advice in designing special waterproofing systems and helping you make the best use of these materials.
