Product catalog summary
Introduction
This manual is intended for service technicians handling the installation and maintenance of Ice-O-Matic ICE Series cube ice machines. It emphasizes the importance of thoroughly understanding the manual before proceeding with any tasks. For unresolved issues, contact Ice-O-Matic's Technical Service Department.
Freight Claim Procedure
Shipments should be inspected immediately upon receipt. Visible damage must be noted on the freight bill and signed by the carrier's agent. Concealed damage requires a carrier inspection within 15 days of delivery.
Warranty
Ice-O-Matic provides a limited warranty covering parts and labor, varying by product type. The warranty is valid only if installation and maintenance are conducted by authorized personnel, with claims filed within 90 days of service.
Model and Serial Number Format
The serial number includes a date code, Ice-O-Matic identifier, and a sequential number, essential for machine identification.
Installation Guidelines
Proper installation is crucial for performance. Key points include maintaining ambient temperatures between 50°F and 100°F, water supply temperatures from 40°F to 100°F, and pressure between 20 psi and 60 psi. Ensure adequate air circulation and compliance with local codes for drain lines. Electrical connections must be made by a qualified electrician. Non-compliance may void warranties and reduce efficiency.
ENERGY STAR Qualified Models
Some Ice-O-Matic models are ENERGY STAR qualified, potentially offering rebates or incentives from local utility companies.
Installation Guidelines
Use 1/4 inch O.D. minimum tubing for the condenser line, ensure proper drain line diameter, attach the machine to the bin with provided hardware, avoid heat on plastic parts, connect power supply correctly, level the machine, and remove packaging materials. Follow Remote Condenser Installation Guidelines if applicable.
Remote Condenser Installation
Location limits include a maximum rise of 35 feet, drop of 15 feet, and line set length of 75 feet. Ambient temperatures should range from -20°F to 120°F. Use precharged refrigerant tubing and ensure proper routing. Roof attachment must comply with local codes.
Electrical and Plumbing Requirements
Models have specific electrical and plumbing needs. Some use thermostatic bin control instead of mechanical switches. Access to control boxes may require removing grill screws.
How the ICE Machine Works
The machine operates in freeze and harvest cycles. During freeze, water circulates over evaporators to form ice. Harvest involves purging water and using hot gas to release ice. Bin switches control operation based on ice levels.
Start-Up Procedure
Ensure the machine is level, check water levels, adjust water flow and valves, check ice formation, and verify bin control operation for proper shut-off.
General Maintenance
Regular maintenance is essential for performance. Adjustments to bin controls and timers may be needed. Follow specific procedures for different models.
Safety Precautions
Disconnect electrical supply before adjustments or repairs to prevent injury from moving parts.
Warranty Conditions
Failure to perform specified maintenance will void warranty coverage for related failures.
General Maintenance Procedure
Maintenance every 6 months includes cleaning the ice-making section, checking ice bridge thickness, cleaning the condenser, inspecting for leaks, adjusting water valves, checking electrical connections, oiling the fan motor, replacing the water filter, and ensuring even water distribution.
Cleaning and Sanitizing Instructions
Scheduled at least twice a year, cleaning involves removing the front panel, adding cleaner to the water trough, flushing the system, using a sanitizing solution, and discarding the first two ice harvests post-cleaning.
Stainless Steel Care
Clean stainless steel surfaces weekly with non-abrasive tools and avoid chlorine-based cleaners. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
Winterizing Procedure
For winter, turn off the water supply, remove all ice, drain the water system, and use compressed air to clear water from the condenser in water-cooled machines.
Service History
A section is provided to record the model number, serial number, and installation date for tracking service history.

ICE Series Installation Guidelines Secure the machine on top of the bin or dispenser. Attach the ice machine to the bin with the mounting straps provided with the bin or dispenser. Insure that the back of the ice machine is flush with the back of the bin. Proper functioning of the bin door requires the bin door, when it is opened, to be in a stable position. If the ice machine is too far forward on the bin, the opened door may not be stable, resulting in an unexpected closing of the bin door. If the ice machine is to be mounted on a bin or dispenser other than an Ice-O-Matic, refer to the manufacturers...
