EN OUR FOUNDING Hunter Douglas was built on recycled aluminium. In 1940, company founder Henry Sonnenberg moved to America from Holland and founded the Douglas Machinery Corporation. A few years later, he began a critical collaboration with inventor Joe Hunter, who had invented a casting machine that could convert scrap aluminium into ultra-hard alloys.
