Hoval Limited Hoval CT- plus Stainless Steel, Fast Recovery Calorifiers The CT-plus Calorifier design has been in use for many years and has proven itself in thousands of installations throughout the world. The wide range of D.H.W. outputs from four model sizes, makes it suitable for most domestic, commercial and industrial applications where quality, economy and simplicity of installation are key requirements. The original 'C' type design has been succeeded by the CT-plus calorifier. It retains the same basic design concept of a 'rippled' surface, high grade stainless steel storage vessel but now has most of the connections repositioned to the base of the unit. In addition, extra insulation and an improved casing have been provided to further reduce standing losses. The construction of the CT-plus is in the form of a vertical, free standing unit, comprising a high grade stainless steel inner vessel with a 'rippled' wall to enhance heat exchange efficiency. This is surrounded by a mild steel primary water jacket, which is encased with sheet steel insulated panels. The assembly is mounted on four legs with the primary flow and return connections on the side. On all four models, the secondary flow is from the top and the smallest model (CT 180) also has the secondary return and cold feed connections at the top. For the three larger models, all the connections other than secondary flow are at the base. Performance of the four CT-plus models covers a range of outputs up to an hourly rating of 1590 l/h. Higher outputs can be provided by arranging the units in modular formation. For most typical applications (other than process water generation) the key requirements is for adequate quantities of hot water over a relatively short period. On this basis, the CT-plus will provide significantly higher flow rates than its continuous hourly rate. Information is given below to allow designers to make full use of the 'good storage/rapid recovery' features of the unit. Hoval Limited - Page 1

For kitchen and similar duties requiring 60°C water, the supply can be direct from the calorifier. For washing and showering duties which require a 42°C supply, mixing or blending with cold water, external to the caloifier, is required and will increase the secondary outputs listed opposite by about 25%. Note for Hydraulic Testing: The primary jacket should not be pressurised without first filling and sealing the inner stainless steel vessel....

An adjustable secondary thermostat has a sensing point which ensures that the main body of water is held uniformly, without stratification, at the required pre-set level, normally 60°C - 65°C. Chloride Content The maximum allowable chloride content of DHW cold feed water is 100 mg/litre (or up to 200 mg/litre where an optional sacrifical anode is fitted). Hoval Limited - Page 3
