Lafarge Rapid Coat® All-Purpose Joint Compound Lafarge Rapid Coat • Ideal for use in all phases of gypsum board finishing: taping, finishing, skim coating, texturing, filling corner bead and trim, and concealing nail • Makes an excellent bonding agent for laminating • Premixed and ready to use right out of the container. • Quick-drying (in as little as 4 hours). • Sands easily. • Excellent coverage and adhesion. Rapid Coat covers as well as or better than ordinary joint compound. • Saves time and money. The two-step system gets the job completed faster with minimized labor. Application of Lafarge Rapid Coat* Joint Compound in 2 Steps While Lafarge Rapid Coat gives excellent coverage with the traditional three-coat method (tape, fill, finish), a two-step application method is recommended to obtain the same great results in less time. Apply Rapid Coat generously with a steel finishing Press paper joint tape firmly into compound to create a good bond and remove excess material. Apply "fill coat" immediately with a trowel or joint knife to hide the tape. Remove excess material by feathering the center and edges of the joint. Apply Rapid Coat (up to 1/4 in. thick without cracking) to fill corner beads and nail/screw dimples. Sanding is not required between applications unless the work is rough. If it is necessary, do a light sanding within 48 hours (180 to 220 sandpaper recommended).
