I am Jack Harding and I have spent my working life constructing swimming pools, mainly within the British Isles and mainland Europe and, on occasion, further afield. My career began in the early 1990’s when I left college and started working with my father, Bruce, who managed and operated a company called Guncast Swimming Pools. Guncast’s origins trace back to the 1970’s and following my father’s retirement in 2000, I am now the managing director. By definition and by experience of personally overseeing and building many high specification, luxury swimming pools, I suppose you could say that I am a swimming pool expert, which has led me to write this book.

ABOUT THIS BOOK In my office I maintain a library of swimming pool books, literature and journals which I use regularly for technical reference and, of course, for inspiration. Few however combine the ‘technical’ with ‘inspirational’. My desire and aim in writing this book was to combine the two and create a book in which the layman, or indeed professional, can find inspiration for their swimming pool project, but in the same book have useful, practical guidance in the technical aspects of installation.
