This is the basic design principle for Graepel gratings: Slip resistance is achieved through perforation, drainage through different holes, stability through edge height and inner edges. The sum of these properties provides for underfoot safety. Beyond that, the pattern of holes and beads creates a graphical structure which also gives the gratings an aesthetic charm. Architects are increasingly using the gratings as ceiling lining and facade cladding. The perforation is air and light permeable, dissipates waste heat, but also reduces solar radiation and offers privacy from spying eyes.
