User information roof hatches

Product catalog summary
Introduction
This document serves as a user manual for Gorter roof hatches, specifically models RHT, RHTG, RHTX, and RHTEP. It emphasizes the importance of reading and keeping the manual for future reference. The instructions provided are general guidelines, and Gorter disclaims liability for injuries or property damage. It is advised to consult a licensed contractor before undertaking significant structural work.
Specifications
The roof hatches are CE certified and tested by Stichting Kwaliteit Gevelbouw (SKG), complying with European standards for various performance metrics. Key specifications include:
  • Thermal transmittance: Uw ≤ 0.32 W/(m2.K) for RHT, Uw ≤ 0.20 W/(m2.K) for RHTEP, Uw ≤ 0.83 W/(m2.K) for RHTG.
  • Resistance to snow load: 3.97 kN/m2 for RHT and RHTEP, 5 kN/m2 for RHTG.
  • Wind load resistance: Class E 3000 for RHT and RHTEP, Class E 2400 for RHTG.
Safety and Certification
Safety assessments are conducted by Aboma under international regulations. The roof hatches have fire ratings and smoke protection with classifications of E: 120 minutes, EI1: 120 minutes, and EI2: 120 minutes. RHTX models feature explosion venting with an Explosion Release Control.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance, including annual cleaning and lubrication of moving parts, avoiding aggressive cleaning agents, and immediate repair of any powder coating damage. The maximum roof angle varies by model: RHT/RHTEP at 30°, RHTG/RHTEI at 5°, and RHTX at 0°.
Warranty
The roof hatches come with a 10-year warranty covering parts that fail under normal use, excluding thermal and glass breaks, improper application, and damage from incorrect installation.
Safety Information
Fire doors should remain closed after use. The roof hatch locks automatically in the open position and can be released with one hand. When open, the hatch should be attended to prevent falls. For electric operation, frequent use may trigger a thermal fuse, requiring a 15-minute wait before reuse.
Specifications and Installation Procedures
Alignment and Mounting: Ensure the hatch aligns with the roof opening and use mounting tabs directly on the roof covering. If insulation exceeds 120 mm, mount tabs on a border.
Roof Opening Adjustments: Enlarge the opening by the panel thickness if clad with panels, ensuring the hatch is torsion-free after fastening.
Fastening: Use all mounting tabs and appropriate fasteners. The curb is pre-insulated for a perfect finish with roofing material.
Interior Panelling
The flange width allows for interior cladding with materials like MDF. Ensure the internal opening matches the hatch size and fits tightly against the flange.
Hand Rail and Latch Release
Install the hand rail and damper in the exit direction. Adjust and secure all bolts after repositioning.
Lock Adjustment
Check the hatch closure by opening and closing it several times. Adjust face-plates if necessary for smooth operation.
