WALL TILES CRAQUELÉ - 1

Product information Wall tiles Craquelé July 2021 WALL TILES — CRAQUELÉ CRAQUELÉ •  glaze is a coating of glass. Many of our glazes A create a fine crack pattern on the surface of the tiles, known as craquelé. This effect is intended. Craquelé is created by the different coefficients of thermal expansion of glaze and ceramics. It is formed partly during the cooling of the tiles in the kiln and partly during the laying and setting of the mortar. The craquelé will also continue to grow slowly afterwards due to changes in temperature and humidity. With transparent glazes, the crack pattern is particularly clearly visible, but opaque glazes also have a craquelé. Each glaze formula produces a specific appearance according to its components. To influence the strength of the craquelé on specif ic request therefore is not possible. •  raquelé means open micro-cracks in the glazing C through which humidity can penetrate into the tile. Nonetheless our tiles can be used in wet areas like showers and sinks without hesitation. Calcareous water will seal those cracks within 2-3 months with ut any optical change. Their craquelé struc o ture will not influence the durability of our tiles at all. •  owever, tiles with a craquelé structure should H not be used behind the stove. Grease when spilling onto the tiles can penetrate into the tiles and will cause unappetizing and irreversible stains. If you don‘t want to do without our tiles in those areas the tiles will have to be impregnated after laying. This impregnation will have to be repeated in the first three months every now and then, because especially in the first time consistently new craquelé will appear. The impregnation can be done with → Patina-Fala Fleckschutz. Any further questions?  –  Phone  +49 30 978 936 50
