Glass Components - 1

Glass Components HARD Glass (Borosilicate) Soda-lime glass Black glass (Vitrite) GE Lighting is manufacturing blown and pressed glass parts from Hg36/ Sb borosilicate glass. Having very low coefficients of thermal expansion (~3 × 10−6 /°C at 20 °C), makes such glass resistant to thermal shock. This reduces material stresses caused by temperature gradients which makes borosilicate a more suitable type of glass for certain applications. Borosilicate glass is created by adding boric oxide to the traditional glassmaker’s frit of silica sand, soda, and ground lime. Hard glass allows for a higher percentage of light transmittance through the lens compared to plastics and lower-quality glass. Soda-lime glass bulbs are produced by Nagykanizsa Glass Plant. The glass is melted in a cross fired regenerative furnace. A statistical quality assurance system is used with regular sampling and data processing. The bulbs are checked for wall thicknesses, diameters, visual defects, stresses and fragility. „Vitrite” is a dark violet colored glass which is practically black in its application as insulating glass for production of glass insulated lamp bases. „Vitrite” glass is melted in a continuous glass melting process in a tank furnace with controlled melting conditions. Glass melt is pressed into approximately 10mm cubic forms called chicklets, which can be loaded without dust for re-melting in the secondary melting process for base production. Glass composition meets ROHS requirements and does not contain toxic components. THE FACTORY QUALITY SYSTEM CERTIFIED ACCORDING TO THE ISO 9001:2008 STANDARD. THE FACTORY QUALITY SYSTEM CERTIFIED ACCORDING TO THE ISO 9001:2008 AND ISO/TS 16949:2009 STANDARD.
