The choice of installation technique is made based on that fact that this is a calibrated, compact and not very absorbent material and has other mechanical features such as its surface hardness, shock resistance, wear and tear, etc that is often installed in very stressed Based on our clients experience, we suggest the following installation methods: installation on mortar - installation with adhesive for tiles. However you decide to carry out installation, it's important to first create a compact and resistant concrete screed that can prohibit the settling or flattening process, particularly under high usage conditions. This occurs on the foundation or directly on the ground based on the soil type. Composed of cement screed with 250-400 kgs for m3 of sand, it must be very compact and must have an adequate thickness To make the screed, it's goodpractice to have suitable technical dilationjoints, particularly if there are large areas to floor. In certain cases, the screed can also be reinforced by single or double welded metal mesh. Preparing the screed and the area to be paved for either motor vehicles or pedestrians must be calculated by the designer according to the traffic that it must support. The traditional system is most often used when the substratum must be raised or leveled. It consists in using a screed bed between 4-6 cms thick with 300-400 kgs of cement; the cement is poured and leveled in an area proportionate to a limited number of slabs to be laid and a 8/10 mms layer of cement grout is poured over this. The slabs are laid and gently If appropriate, place the correct technical dilationjoints on the screed bed. CAUTION: ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE POWDERED CEMENT INSTEAD OF GROUT (EVEN IF WET), PARTICULARLY FOR MORE DDTFICULT APPLICATIONS, AS THE TILES MIGHT NOT AFFIX. Wait at least one week before allowing normal traffic in the floored area. Preparing the area to be floored for either motorized vehicles or pedestrians must be calculated by the designer according to the traffic that it must support. This is the resistant part that supports the pavement and its physical-mechanical conditions must remain unaltered over time. It must not be compressible and deformable. • N. 2 - Installation with Adhesive for Floorings This is the preferred system for regular and already leveled foundations. It consists in making a leveled foundation composed of sufficiently seasoned and dry screed cement (1 week per centimeter of thickness). Then lay down a layer of adhesive for excellent quality flooring for marble, granite and natural stone flooring only and specifically for outdoor use. Adjust the tiles and gently strike them to level. Check the suitability of the screed or plaster before installation. It must be dry, solid and compression resistant. The floor must not have any removable parts, dust, grease, oils, waxes, varnishes, release agents or anything else that could prohibit the adhesion of the slabs. For pre-mixed installations, verify that they are appropriate to use with a coating. Note: For more difficult applications, use coarse-grained adhesive with a 12/15 mms serrated knife. For wall coatings, apply a second coat. Follow the directions provided by the adhesive manufacturer carefully. • For series for exteriors E-F-B-M: Any excess cement or adhesive that is visible during the installation of the slabs is immediately removed with a sponge or wet broom. We recommend not to seal the quadratures, or sealed with silica sand. The use of only cement for tiled surfaces is absolutely prohibited. After installation, protect the slabs for at least 24 hours from rain or from direct sun. Seal the tiles after a few days. Etna volcanic material Types (Grey - Red - Black - Green - Yellow - Orange - Brown): polishing must be done at least 10/15 days after installation. It is suggested that the tiles be polished with a very fine wheel (800/1000 grain) and that the polishing is finished with lead andpoten. Do not use oxalic acid. BS marble types (White - Ivory - Yellow - Hay - Pink - Light Brown - Light Green): polish like traditional marbles. The company guarantees the quality about only of its own products. FIMAS srl isn't responsible for negative results deriving from wrong installation system or wrong use. It has no responsibilities according the law (civil and penal code). The company, in fact, for some logistical reasons can't be present at the installation of our products in the construction site. For this reason, FIMAS can't check the correct use of these advices and it can't stand in for works supervisor.
