Hail resistance classification The Institute of Fire Protection Technology and Safety Research (IBS) in Linz, Austria, tested the hail resistance of our range of roof tiles with a hail simulator. In the test, standard ice balls of 70 mm in diameter are fired at the surface. The weight, diameter and impact velocity of the lab-created ice balls are the decisive factors for the load on the roof tiles in a hailstorm.
