Product catalog summary
Overview
The document is a technical data sheet for Emac®'s firestop cords, which are part of their fire barrier systems. These cords are designed to provide tightness against flames and hot gases in expansion joints during a fire, preventing the chimney effect between construction elements.

Applications
Firestop cords are used for:
  • Horizontal and vertical joints needing fire protection, such as floor, wall, and ceiling expansion joints.
  • Joints between facade elements, masonry, slabs, and glass facades.
  • Firewalls, technical ducts, and neoprene support protections.
They are suitable for various constructions including hospitals, industrial buildings, offices, residential buildings, hotels, malls, car parks, schools, train stations, airports, and stadiums.

General Features
The cords are made of fireproof and root-proof mineral fibers covered with a glass fiber net. They have a fire resistance of 240 minutes (SIST-EN 13501-2:2016), are non-combustible (A1 class DIN 4102), and have a melting temperature of over 1000 ºC. They maintain fire resistance properties with 80% compressibility and 20% traction.

Technical Specifications
The cords come in various diameters and joint widths, with packaging options ranging from rolls of 5 to 30 meters. Specific models and their dimensions are listed in the document.

Installation
Installation is straightforward and cost-effective. For joints between 10 and 160 mm, the cord is inserted with pressure, and a cover plate or expansion joint profile can be installed above. For joints larger than 160 mm, double cords and special supports are required.

Compliance and Standards
The firestop cords comply with European Standards EN 13501-2 and EN 1366-4, classified as EI240, meaning they can withstand fire for 240 minutes without failing.

Additional Information
Further technical details can be accessed through Emac®'s website or by contacting their technical department.
