Product catalog summary
Installation Overview
The document outlines the installation process for Ecodomeo toilets, emphasizing the importance of planning and constructing a specialized composting space. This space should be on the same level as the toilet or below, with outside access for maintenance.

Composting Space Specifications
The composting space is divided into three zones: Zone A for fresh material, Zone B for drying material, and Zone C for composted material storage. The ideal surface area is 3 m² to minimize maintenance frequency. Zone C should be nearest to the outside access door for easy removal of composted material.

Installation Options
Three layout possibilities are provided: a square space, a long space in the same direction as the belt, or a long space perpendicular to the belt. The composting space can be situated directly underneath or behind the toilet.

Maintenance Recommendations
Lowering the composting space floor by 40 cm allows for one year of usage for a family of four with minimal maintenance. If on the same level as the toilet, maintenance is required every two months.

Ventilation System
A ventilation system ensures odor-free operation, with air circulating from the bathroom through the toilet to the composting space. A fan in an air duct, similar to a chimney, facilitates this circulation. The system should be airtight, and the fan should be accessible for annual cleaning.

Urine Drainage
Urine is collected and evacuated through the home’s plumbing system. An underground tank allows gravitational flow, while an aboveground tank requires a pump. Two tanks are recommended for storing urine for six months before use as fertilizer.

Fly Trap
A fly trap using natural light is included to prevent fly proliferation. A small window in the composting space attracts flies to the trap.

Additional Considerations
No additional ventilation should be used in the toilet. The fan should be protected by a screen to prevent fly attraction. The document also provides contact information for further inquiries.

Installing Ecodomeo toilets in the home also requires creation of a specialised space for the compost. It is important to take great care in the planning and construction of this space, so as that it is well-suited to the home and is easily accessible for compost maintenance. PLACEMENT AND SIZE OF THE COMPOSTING SPACE The composting space should be located on the same level as the toilet or below with an outside access. The length of the belt (available in three sizes) provides the solution for every situation. COMPOSTING SPACE SITUATED ON THE SAME LEVEL AS THE TOILET The height of the room can...

COMPOSTING SPACE BELOW TOILET LEVEL The composting space may be located either directly underneath the toilet or behind it. This setup allows for the installation of toilets both upstairs and downstairs using the same composting space. FEATURES OF THE COMPOSTING SPACE The layout is divided into three separate zones: • zone A: the space located directly underneath the belt where the fresh material falls. • zone B: the first composting space occupied by drying material. • zone C: the space occupied by composted material and its stockage prior to removal. There are three different layout possiblities:...

FEATURES OF THE COMPOSTING SPACE Zone C should be nearest to the outside access door to facilitate removal of composted material without entering the space. POSSIBLE DOOR PLACEMENTS Use a muck rake to move the material from one zone to the next. In order to reduce the frequency of maintenance, we suggest placing the floor of the composting space below ground level. Lowering the level by 40 cm allows one year of toilet usage for a family of four with one-time maintenance. If the composting space is on the same level as the toilet, maintenance will be required once every two months for the same...

Once or twice a year, the scrapers at the end of the belt will need to be cleaned, direct access to the end of the belt is therefore recommended. The ideal composting space should not need to be fully entered for annual maintenance, nor require the use of specific clothing to do so. A ‘clean path’ can be designated in the composting space. The end of the belt can be accessed through a door on the side of the composting space

THE HOLE IN THE WALL BEHIND THE TOILETS The belt beneath the toilet transports fecal matter into the composting space through a hole in the wall situated behind the toilet seat. • The opening should conform to the measurements below: A • t is also possible to make a larger hole in the wall, reinforcing the space with a panel of wood I (or another material) cut to the appropriate dimensions. URINE DRAINAGE Urine and the water used to clean the toilet are collected underneath the toilet then evacuated through the home’s plumbing system. In principle, the use of an underground tank allows gravitational...

The used water pipe (100mm) can be fitted under the toilet like a normal water system. Please refer to the following plan. it is also possible to run the pipe through the composting space as illustrated. If so, the hole in the wall should descend all the way to the ground. VENTILATION SYSTEM IN THE TOILETS AND COMPOSTING SPACE A well-run system guaruntees the absence of odors in the toilets. Air constantly circulates from the bathroom, through the toilet, towards the composting space where it is then evacuated. In order to inhibit this circulation, all external drafts should be eliminated. The...

The compost may attract flies, therefore we recommend protecting the fan by a screen. The screen’s grid should be wide enough to allow air flow. NO additional ventilation should be used in the toilet. Air A fly trap using natural light is included with the setup. A small window must be installed in the wall of the composting space (or even the door.) This should be the only natural light source in the composting space. A 100mm circular window is sufficient. Attach the fly trap to the inside of the window. Flies will be drawn to the light and then captured. MADE IN FRANCE JANUS 2014 Flies have...
