Product catalog summary
Introduction
This document provides detailed information on the characteristics, maintenance, and finishing options for wood flooring, specifically focusing on Antique American Barnwood and other solid or engineered wood options.
Specifications
The document highlights that wood is a natural material, leading to variations in color and grain. Over time, exposure to light and environmental factors can alter the appearance of wood floors. The Antique American Barnwood is described as having a natural unfinished surface, reclaimed from old structures, and exposed to outdoor climates for decades, resulting in a textured, silver-grey patina.
Pre-finishing Recommendations
Pre-finishing is recommended for engineered floors due to their stability and ease of installation. Solid floors, while offering an authentic look, may experience slight movement due to climate changes. Pre-finishing can be applied to solid floors, but traditional finishes can also be applied on-site.
Maintenance and Patina Management
To maintain the patina of wood floors, the document suggests using specific finishes that protect the wood over time. These include hardwax, oil, or polyurethane lacquer. The choice between oiled and lacquered finishes depends on the desired maintenance level and appearance. Oiled finishes allow the wood to breathe and develop a natural patina, while lacquered finishes provide a more traditional, sealed protection.
Climate Considerations
Wood floors may react to changes in humidity and temperature. It is recommended to maintain a relative humidity of 40-60% and room temperatures between 17-23 degrees Celsius. Floor heating should not exceed a surface temperature of 27 degrees Celsius to prevent damage. Seasonal movements such as small gaps or fine cracks are normal and do not affect performance.
Conclusion
The document emphasizes the importance of choosing the right finishing method and maintaining optimal environmental conditions to ensure the longevity and aesthetic appeal of wood floors.

Antique American Barnwood Weathered Silvergrey-1

Antique American Barnwood Weathered Silvergrey Our most natural grey look is achieved by simply exposing the wood to sunlight and rain. Our barnwood is reclaimed from farms and old houses where the surface has been exposed to the weather for decades. The result ia a grooved, textured structure with a natural colour variation between silver and anthracite grey, with some hints of brown. We leave this finish as natural as time intended. It’s ideal for wall and ceiling cladding, both in exterior and interior wet areas like spas. Antique American Barnwood natural unfinished surface Reclaimed mixed-wood cladding, generally exposed to the outdoor climate for a period of around 50 years. Maintenance This natural patina is low maintenance on walls. If cleaned with water with our Deckfresh finish, the dry grey surface remains protected against algae and keeps its pure look. Spot repair and Refinish Any damage on the surface won't need a touch up, as the bare wood will quickly weather out to grey if exposed to sun and rain. Recommended patterns Color variation Patina change in time Whilst we endeavour to portray grain and colour as realistically as possible in our samples and photography, a sample or a photo can never be an exact representation of an entire floor. As wood is a natural material, variations in colour and grain occur. Floors may also change in appearance over time through exposure to light, wear and tear, and maintenance. ** Pre-finishing of solid floors may be subject to stricter recommendations for limited board dimensions and climate control. Antique American Barnwood Weathered Silvergrey-2

Solid or Engineered? The option to have your floor ‘pre-finished’ in our mill offers great convenience during the installation process. We unreservedly recommend our pre-finishing solution for any of our Engineered 2-layered floors which offer great stability and convenience during installation. However, beauty is not always about convenience. Would you prefer a traditionally milled Solid floor over an Engineered floor? Then it’s important to realize that, due to the impact of climate, a small amount of movement may occur in the boards. We recognize that small natural imperfections like these...
