Installation Procedures for Outsulation RMD System
Insulation Board Installation: Ensure uniform contact by applying firm pressure over the insulation board. Clean edges with a margin trowel and ensure joints are tightly abutted. Install subsequent rows in a running bond pattern with staggered vertical joints.
Wall Penetrations: For corners of openings, use L-shaped insulation pieces. Wrap openings with Detail Mesh and allow space for differential movement. Install J-Track at openings, extending beyond edges, and secure with corrosion-resistant fasteners.
Expansion Joints: Leave a 19 mm separation between dissimilar materials and at substrate transitions to allow for movement and sealant installation.
Slivering: Fill gaps greater than 1.6 mm with slivers of insulation board. Do not apply adhesive on sliver edges.
Aesthetic Reveals: Use a chalk line to mark reveals and ensure the insulation board thickness at the bottom is not less than 19 mm. Embed Detail Mesh in the base coat mixture for continuity.
Preparation for Base Coat: Wait 24 hours after installing insulation board before applying the base coat. Sand any irregularities and remove dust. Embed Detail Mesh in the base material mixture.
Reinforcing Mesh and Base Coat Installation: Inspect insulation board for flatness and damage. Apply base coat in two passes to fully embed reinforcing mesh. Use Panzer Mesh for high traffic areas and apply a second layer of reinforcing mesh.
Sealant Joint Preparation: Coat base coat surfaces with Color Prime or Demandit before applying sealant. Allow to dry for 48 hours.
Dryvit Primers: Ensure base coat is cured and dry before applying primers. Correct any irregularities and remove efflorescence.
Dryvit Finish: Ensure base coat is cured and inspect for irregularities before applying the finish.
Application Instructions for Dryvit Outsulation RMD System
General Application Guidelines: Dryvit finishes must be applied continuously to natural breaks like corners or expansion joints. Maintain a wet edge and use materials from a single batch to avoid color variations. Ensure sufficient personnel and scaffolding are available to prevent cold joints. Avoid applying in rain and ensure the base coat is dry before application.
Specific Finish Applications:
  • Quarzputz, Quarzputz E, Sandblast, Weatherlastic Quarzputz: Apply with a stainless steel trowel to a uniform thickness, not exceeding the largest aggregate size.
  • Sandpebble Variants: Apply slightly thicker than the largest aggregate size and use a horizontal trowel motion for uniformity.
  • Freestyle: Apply to a thickness not greater than 1.6 mm, with texture not exceeding 6.4 mm.
  • Weatherlastic Adobe: Apply a coat of Color Prime, followed by two coats of Adobe for desired texture.
  • Ameristone, Stone Mist, TerraNeo, Lymestone, Custom Brick, Reflectit: Follow specific application instructions as per respective data sheets.
Coatings and Sealers: Coatings like Demandit, Weathercoat, Revyvit, Weatherlastic Smooth, Tuscan Glaze, and SealClear should be applied over Dryvit finishes, not directly on the base coat. Specific application techniques include using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment, ensuring even application and avoiding dry rolling.
