FILLCRETE - 1

CONCRETE LINE Additives for high-performance concrete Submicron amorphous silicon or "silica fume (microsilica)" Physical state: powder Colour: grey Proportion: 5-15% based on cement weight Particle size distribution: from 0.05 mm to 0.5 mm Storage: 12 months Composition: SiO2 > 95 % CaO < 0.5 % MgO < 1.0 % Fe2O3 < 1.0 % Al 2O3 < 0.5 % Other ingredients = trace elements FILLCRETE is a powder product of primarily spherical-shaped granules made from submicron amorphous silicon, free of crystalline compounds and commonly known as "silica fume (microsilica)." FILLCRETE has a high specific surface area (15-20 m2/g), very high Pozzolana reactivity and excellent filling capacity. FILLCRETE granules are of very small dimensions (0.05-0.5m). If you add a percentage proportion of FILLCRETE based on cement weight, the mix will result in cement-based mixes of superior quality. FILLCRETE is particularly recommended for: • reinforced or pre-stressed concrete structures exposed to aggressive chemical agents in the natural environment (resistance to sulphates, calcium chloride, sodium chloride, carbon dioxide); • bleed-free (not exuding water) concrete with very high tensile strength; • concrete and mortar with low porosity and improved frost resistance; • mortars and cement-based mixes with superior thixotropic properties; • cement-based mixes for underwater concrete castings; • gunite, shotcrete. As a result of its properties, FILLCRETE has very high Pozzolana reactivity. Due to the spherical shape and small size of its particles, FILLCRETE has a remarkable filling capacity. The particles fill existing gaps between cement granules, thereby decreasing the microporosity of cement paste. These features make FILLCRETE a first-rate raw material, enabling you to produce concrete with increased tensile strength, reduced permeability and better durability, endowing the concrete with remarkable advantages, both during the fresh and hardening stages. Fresh concrete stage Given the same amount of mix water, setting times do not vary substantially if you add FILLCRETE without decreasing the amount of cement. With a decreased percentage of cement (increases the W/C ratio), however, you will experience a slight delay in setting time. If added in a percentage exceeding 5% of cement weight, the higher specific surface area of FILLCRETE will require a larger amount of mix water so it will then be necessary to combine it with FLUIBETON superfluidifiers. Hardening stage • Increased tensile strength when you add it to Portland cement; • decreased permeability due to lower total porosity; • more durability and resistance to frost; • optimal resistance to naturally-occurring aggressive chemical agents such as sulphates, chlorides, carbon dioxide and seawater. COMBINING FILLCRETE WITH FLUIBETON SUPERFLUIDIFIERS If add FILLCRETE, this needs a larger amount of water and you have to use FLUIBETON superfluidifiers in order avoid to affect the cement mix properties. Table 1 shows the proportion and type of additive to use when you add FILLCRETE. You may use up to 11 kg of FILLCRETE per 100 kg of cement with FLUIBETON superfluidifiers. If you need larger FILLCRETE proportions, you should use FLUIBETON 2000 superfluidifier. The minimum proportion of cement in concrete is 300 kg/m3. FILLCRETE may be used in proportions varying from 5% to 15%, based on cement weight (5 kg to 15 kg per 100 kg of cement). Casts must be protected from rapid evaporation with appropriate protective devices (polyethylene sheets), especially in dry and windy climates. To achieve the best results, it is particularly recommended to apply PROBETON CURING N curing film right after removing formworks. It can be also applied immediately...
